Haunting, magical, lyrical prose. If you enjoyed the story and writing style of books such as The Historian, Labyrinth, and Sepulchre, I highly recommend this book.

Without Reservations The Travels of an Independent Woman

This amazing travelogue is one to be savored - much like the experiences detailed so lovingly by the author. Alice Steinbach opens up her life, guiding her readers to the lessons she learned about life and self in her year of traveling, all in excellently structured prose. The hardcover edition of this book is beautifully laid out, with colored postcards at the beginning of each section of her journey and stamps scattered throughout. I'll be searching it out for my private library. I feel that any reader who also is in love with travel should always have a book like this within easy reach - so that they can have a taste of it even at home.
