Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. The Stand: The Complete and Uncut Edition

I read this book when I was 16 or 17 and it's still one of my top ten books...and I've read a LOT of books. It's truly a classic tale of good vs. evil done Stephen King style. It's one of the few books I recommend to anyone, without having to consider the type of books they're into. Stephen King books in general just seem to lose something when they're translated to film, so anyone who saw the television movie version from a few years back should know this is definitely one of those stories that's exponentially better in book form.

Eternity Road

I love Jack McDevitt's books. I think this one is my favorite. I read this several years ago and have re-read a couple of times since. It's an interesting story about a civilization that once had technology, etc., and has dropped back to a time more like the 1800s or so.
