Assembly Such As This
by
Pamela Aidan

I have tried to read several modern books that propose that they are sequels, prequels, Diaries, etc. surrounding the Jane Austen world of Pride and Prejudice. NONE of them were even close to the style, energy, and entertainment of the original. However, I kept searching because I am a die hard Austen fan. I found this book and I was not overly excited. I excepted the same dull reads as other books I had found of a similar model. Thus, I was happily surprised. This trilogy follows the Pride and Prejudice plot line except the entire series is from Mr. Darcy's point of view. The language is on par or equal to Jane Austen's original and the humor that Pamela Aidan adds is marvelous. I would defiantly recommend this trilogy for any Jane Austen fan.

Cardcaptor Sakura Master of the Clow Volume 1
by
Clamp

Card captor Sakura is adorable. Sakura is a character that you will fall in love with instantly. She is dense, loyal, trustworthy, and persistent to finish what she starts. She has an open heart that is willing to love everything. She is her own star, as you will find out in this brilliant manga series. The other characters include: the excessive but loyal cousin to Sakura Tomoyo, The protector and blushing Li Syaoran, the cruel yet loving Eriol, and of course Sakura's family. These characters are well rounded, humorous, and build a story that any age or gender can thoroughly enjoy. I personally loved them and read them over and over again. I would recommend it to all my friends (and since most also read manga they know and love this and other Clamp series as well).

Walk To Remember
by
Nicholas Sparks

Every single time I read this book, I cry. Nicholas Sparks has an uncanny ability to write such inspiring and heart felt books. The characters he weaves are so realistic that it is impossible not to become attached. This story grabs you by your eyes and doesn't let go till the ride is over. The very first time I read it I thought I wasn't going to like it. I thought, Nicholas Sparks writes tons of books and thus a mainstream author. What can he write that I haven't read? It was a very arrogant stance for me to make but then I was a sophomore in High School. That very title alone means "Wise-fool" and so I was. This touching tale of the "American" bad boy tamed by the Pastor's daughter is enchanting. It weaves the past with the present and leaves you touched or crying at the end. I don't want to give too much away but the story is also touching because of the intense love between a daughter and a father. The Preacher loses his wife and only has his daughter. Thus, how cherished she becomes and then this "young pup" comes along. He is wild as the devil and it is no surprise that the father disapproves. However, as you will understand if you read this novel, Love conquers all.

Twilight: Twilight 1
by
Stephenie Meyer

I am not a die hard Twilight fan. I do not hold to either Edward or Jacob teams. I read Twilight before it grew into an empire. I have heard and often seen for myself the grammar errors and other English teacher's complaints against Twilight. However, if these are the measures we reject books then it is a very shallow measuring stick. Twilight holds it's own beauty and appeal. " 'Isabella,' He pronounced my full name carefully, then playfully ruffled my hair with his free hand. A shock ran through my body at his casual touch. 'Bella, I couldn't live with myself if I ever hurt you. You don't know how it's tortured me.' He looked down, ashamed again. 'The thought of you, still, white,cold..to never see you blush scarlet again, to never see that flash of intuition in your eyes when you see through my pretenses...it would be unendurable." This is a part of Edward's confession of love to Bella. It is simple but the "earthy" tone of it makes it all the more touching and sincere. I do not suggest Twilight for those who are vampire fans. Twilight does not keep to traditional vampire roles and nor do I think that it must. Twilight, for me, is not about the vampires or the werewolves. It is about the love story between Edward and Bella. I can relate to Bella on many different levels and so I sympathize with her as she falls in love. This is what I suggest, that you pick up this book and travel back to High School. Surely, I was not the only one that sat back and observed people. Bella observes and enjoys a good mystery thus her obsession and later love for Edward. Read Twilight for love and not for vampires.

Dune (Dune #1)
by
Frank Herbert

Dune is an amazing adventure story that all ages will enjoy. It brings the reader into a fascinating culture of the "fremens" and for those who love political intrigue it has that as well. It is a well rounded book with romance, adventure, culture, and etc. It is everything you except from a Sci-fi and more.
