Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead
by

I have deep respect for Brené Brown and, as a social worker myself, I also have great admiration for her and her significant work on shame and vulnerability. In an effort to really grasp what Brené is teaching, I read this book slowly, often re-reading chapters and always listening to her accompanying podcasts online. In this excellent book, Brené takes the reader through her research findings on living a wholehearted life by doing something radical: being open to vulnerability. I appreciate the clear examples she gives as she describes what her research has shown. I know this research - as well as Brené's vulnerability to be her true self and sharing her struggles with wholehearted living - inspire others to transform their lives.

Code Name Verity 01

Absolutely fantastic book. Best YA book I've read in a long time. Make no mistake: Although this novel is listed as YA, Wein has crafted a complex novel. The unforgettable characters are so genuine and alive that I feel I've met them. Every detail is significant. And Wein's obvious knowledge and research on the role of female spies and female pilots in WWII - along with her wonderful storytelling - creates a dramatic, memorable, incredible story.
