Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. Art of Work A Proven Path to Discovering What You Were Meant to Do
by
Jeff Goins
Kevin Peters
, July 09, 2015
The Art of Work is a great book for someone at any stage of their life's task. If you are unsure of what you are to do with your life, how to do what you want to do, think you need to change paths, or reinforce what you are already doing, the Art of Work offers food for thought that is well worth the price of admission (under 20 bucks and some spare time). When you are done make sure to visit the appendices for discussion questions and good concise chapter summaries.

Oz Principle Getting Results Through Individual & Organizational Accountability
by
Craig Hickman, Roger Connors, Tom Smith
Kevin Peters
, October 21, 2014
The Oz Principle is a book that uses the Wizard of Oz as an allegory for how we are ultimately responsible for most of the events in our lives and challenges us to hold ourselves accountable. If you are currently not holding yourself accountable for your life, to you this book will be a swift kick in the pants and a nice dose of reality. Two other books that would be good to read with this would be Mindset by Carol Dweck and The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday.
