Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. Only Time Will Tell
by
Jeffrey Archer

In this amazingly well-written story, Jeffrey Archer continues to weave his magic. 'Only Time Will Tell' is predictable at times, but the end was really mind blowing, even if it keeps you dangling at the precipice. I enjoyed every page & each character in this saga, but-frankly-it left me craving for the sequel.... Can't wait to get my hands on "The sins of the father"!! Definitely worth the read...........

Age of Miracles

The best part of 'The age of Miracles' is Julia's story, and only a small part of that story has to do with the so-called "slowing" of the Earth's rotation. The science-fiction aspect of the novel is merely a backdrop for the very identifiable coming-of-age story. By the end of the story, it becomes evident that it is not the catastrophes in one's life that define them, but rather how one goes about picking up the pieces.......

Hunger Games 01

Suzanne Collins

With the hype that this series has created, I decided to try something beyond my usual preferred "genre" - mystery & romance. However, I thoroughly enjoyed each book. Collins has indeed created characters that not only grab your attention from the word 'go' till the last line, but you actually end up caring about what happens to them.... I flew through this first book and could not wait to pick up the next book. I highly suggest getting all 3 books at one time so you can move through them at your own pace and there isn't any down time between them!
