Pedagogy of the Oppressed 30th Anniversary Edition
by
Paulo Freire

This book should be required reading for any teacher, particularly any language teacher from the United States. It is already a classic, and hopefully will become foundational. Freire was a brilliant man.

Snow Crash
by
Neal Stephenson
brodie
, March 14, 2008
While the book involves a plot that is page turning, it also possesses an eery forecasting of the world to come. Written at a time when most Americans had never heard of the internet, Stephenson was already exploring concepts like avatars and viruses in an in depth way. A great read, and a thought provoking story.
