Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. What a great book. Becoming disabled and being gay, the love I found with my dog is incredible. My partner adopted our dog from the Oregon Humane Society as a companion pet for me, while I am stuck and home and my partner is at work. Not only does this sweet little dog love me unconditionally, he also has inspired me. When I became so sick I felt as though life had ended. He gave me inspiration to do something, rather then sitting around in self pity. I started making dog clothes, I now make and sell fun pet apparel on my website: www.whirlydogsupplies.com and it has become such a wonderful experience. I'm happy to say, last year I only lost a couple hundred dollars on my little business venture, but it's not about making money... it's about the dogs and their humans. I love making the clothing, talking with people and hearing their stories, and seeing these sweet little animal wearing cute dog clothing. So in summary, dogs can help people in many many ways... being a gay man, I adore my dog and enjoy the love and inspiration he brings to me everyday! and Love the Book.. anyone reading this? ... buy it! and buy it at Powells, they are the best!

Love the book. I think everyone straight or gay should read this. Being gay is so hard, for most it's hard to interact with family and friends openly. We have so many obstacles in live and sexuality is so hard sometimes. Whether it's your relationship, your friends, your family or your life we need compassion and love. Dogs bring that to us, without judgement or expectations. When a dog looks at you, they look at you with unbiased love, they don't see sexuality, color, sex, race, etc. I am the owner of www.whirlydogsupplies.com and I am always advocating for LGBT rights and respect. Love your dog, they love you!
