Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children
by
Ransom Riggs

This book is unlike any other. What I understand is that the author has a collection of real, odd photos (much like the one on the cover of the book) and he writes stories around them. Ms. Peregrine is about a boy who goes to England after his grandfather's death. While wandering, he comes across this home full of children with weird abilities all under the care of one woman-Ms. Peregrine. The boy then learns that he has gone back in time, when he really should not be able to find these folks and their odd powers. How did he get there? What is his purpose of finding this place? Could he be just as weird as these peculiar children? Read the trilogy-soon to be a movie!-to find out.

Be aware that these manga volumes are a bit thicker than traditional manga, but not as thick as omnibus editions. In this second volume, we meet Sailor V, learn her true name, and learn of the past lives of "Tuxedo Mask" and Sailor Moon! Action and romance ensues in the exciting volume!

I really liked this first volume! It is about a girl who has no memories of anything before a year ago, and she lives a normal life with her adopted family not knowing who she is. Then, a monster attacks and she suddenly transforms into a killer-because her blood is the only thing that can kill the monsters. Over time, she meets people and starts to remember snippets of who she really is...but at the cost of the lives of those she loves.

Its Kind of a Funny Story
by
Ned Vizzini

I initially saw the movie and decided to read the book. From what I remember from the movie, it was a tad different from the book. Then again, I did see the movie a long time ago and read the book just recently. It is a very relatable read, and is also very humorous. It has also changed my perspective on psychiatric hospital as well. A very entertaining, easy read for anyone looking for something that can be an eye opener, or just a story that touches on sensitive topics in a way that is almost lighthearted, yet memorable. Respects to the late Ned Vizzini and his loved ones. I thoroughly enjoyed your novel, Mr. Vizzini.
