Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. I highly recommend digging into the recommendations — we would never lead you astray — but today...

This book harboured great feelings for me whilst reading and long after I shut the book. The story of the two young best friends were so influential on my life, it strengthened my friendship with a girl I was friends with at the time of reading and it strengthened me when I felt that I wasn't tough enough in my martial arts classes. Rose is the best role model to teenagers alike in the confidence department although I don't think it's very good for influencing teens to go after their gym teacher romantically. Overall this series stuck with me since I read them in 2008 and I would recommend them to anyone who loves a good romance and friendship novel. This is one of my favourite series to date and this book made the craze happen. Definitely would be a 4 and a half!

House of Night 01 Marked

Marked was a great start to the House Of Night series as it hooked me almost immediately. I absolutely loved reading these books because I could relate so much to Zoey and by the end of the book I was already wanting a best friend like Stevie Rae and to go to a school like the House Of Night. I have already started re-reading the series because that's how good it is and I would do it again and again. I loved the series so much a few online friends and I started an Online cast called The House Of Night Online and we occasionally cast more characters so that we can make more photo edits and movies to promote the books for when they are made into movies or a tv show.
