Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. I highly recommend digging into the recommendations — we would never lead you astray — but today...

This book was really good as soon as I got everything a bit sorted out. It was very confusing at the beginning, and it took about a quarter of the book to get a better understanding of all that's going on, which are several things. The main character, Sarah is not the only person who's point of view we see. We also see her brothers, Will and Sean, as well as another person whose identity I will not reveal because that would just spoil so much. The confusing beginning wasn't that bad, and I got through it and really enjoyed the book.

This book was almost as good as the first. I loved it! I really liked Katie and Daniel’s sense of humor. And the action was constant and there were so many red herrings. I liked the way it ended, and I liked how Eason set everything up for the ending. I also liked Riley and her sarcasm and maturity. This book was not and creepy stalker-ish as the first one, and I liked that.

I was unable to put this book down. I just had to see what was next. If you read this book or the first book in the Nikki Boyd series, Vendetta, I promise, you'll not regret it. The book is constant action. Something changes every few minutes and the suspect changes. I liked how in this book, we got to know Tyler’s family better. In Vendetta, I we only got to really read what Tyler said about him. These books always start out a tangled mess and Nikki Boyd manages to always come through and sort everything out.

I loved this book! I liked Rosalind in the 2nd book, but this one was better. I loved how both Rosalind and Randel had pasts that made them vulnerable. It made their characters more believable. I also liked Sapphira. I wish Dina L. Sleiman would make a fourth book about her! And maybe Garrett. ;) I would definitely recommend this book, as well as the two before it in the series, but because of Rosalind's past that we learned about in Chivalrous, I would recommend that anyone who read it, wait until they are at least thirteen.

I loved this book! It was great! I normally prefer to read historical fiction, but I loved this book. Tia’s stressing over Leo and Natalie’s relationship got a little old, but I still really enjoyed the book. I love how it is set in San Francisco, and there are so many boats around. It was kind of cool to learn about all of them. I would love to go on a dinner cruise like the Pearl! I would recommend this book for girls 12 and older. Maybe even 11. Tia is 26 but the book would still be great for someone younger. * I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in return for my honest review.
