Let Me Stand Alone: The Journals of Rachel Corrie
by
Rachel Corrie
Cedate
, April 27, 2009
A young woman wise beyond her years, Rachel Corrie was taken from this world far too soon. We could all stand to learn something from her writings as she grows and wrestles with issues both personal and global. A must read!

Firmin

Savage, Sam

A wonderfully delightful little book! Readers will quickly fall in love with Firmin, the rat born in a used bookstore, and his insatiable hunger for the written word. Sort of makes you wonder....might your favorite used bookstore have a well-read rodent in its stacks?

Sick Girl
by
Amy Silverstein
Cedate

Sick Girl is an amazingly candid and brutally honest account of Amy Silverstein's journey through chronic illness. Her narrative is both gripping and disturbing in its honesty and detail and I found it difficult to put down. Thank you Amy for your bravery in sharing your life with us.

Powerful memoir from a truly amazing woman. A read that truly makes one appreciative to have been born in a country where women are not treated as chattel. I applaud Ayaan Hirsi Ali for her courage in speaking her mind even when the costs are high. May she be an inspiration for us all to speak our personal truth.

What an educational and entertaining book! The author's experiences definitely make one think about the roles that pigeons have always played (and will continue to play) in the everyday lives of the human race. Whether you love them or hate them, this insightful look at pigeons is definitely a must read!!!!

Littlest Hitler Stories
by
Ryan Boudinot
Cedate
, May 25, 2007
This interesting mix of stories makes for a unique reading experience that makes you think. From the title story that explores the dynamics of a school when two kids in the same class show up dressed as Hitler and Anne Frank on Halloween, to the story where society requires that kids kill their parents to obtain college admission and scholarships, it is a book you will not soon forget.

It has been a long time since I picked up a graphic novel. What an awesome reintroduction to this genre. The combination of Gaiman's amazing storytelling and the great artwork make for an exciting experience. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
