Restless in the Grave

Once again, Dana captivates from page one. Every one of the Kate Shugak novels is an interesting read. This was a page turner from the get go. If you like mystery, the great outdoors and Alaskan/American history, much of which is not taught in traditional history classes, this is for you. I like that Dana shares the history of Alaska in her books so we outsiders can get a glimpse of the great state that many of us will never actually visit in our lifetime.

Puts you in the right frame of mind to enter into and enjoy the holidays to the fullest. Amazing that 4 authors can continue a story line with such an easy flow of the story. Nothing is lost from one novella to the next in the character depth and charm. Very enjoyable read.

Though Not Dead

Like all Dana Stabenow reads, this is a real page turner. Keeps you involved from the first page to the last. She is not afraid to kill off the lovable characters who become like family to the reader and is capable of getting the reader to accept this loss. Great writing, quick read. Just be aware, once hooked, you have to wait another year for the next installment. If you are interested in Alaska, read this book and be informed of the history of the state wrapped around an amazing PI in Kate Shugak. Stop in and get to know Alaska, Kate and all the Park Rats. This is book 18, so if you get hooked and haven't read the previous 17, they should hold you over until next year.

Water for Elephants

This is a well written story. It really touched me, because I could relate to the main character. My father is in assisted living, suffering from dimensia. He would so do the exact things the main character did. I think that's why it spoke to me. It's not just for that reason. This book will speak to anyone who knows someone dealing with tough issues, but especially aging parents or friends.
