In my opinion The Gravedigger's Daughter is definitely one of Oates' best...This book depicts how child abuse alters the development of self-respect in adulthood, as well as how their past trauma impacts the choices in their future relationships.

Unbroken A World War II Story of Survival Resilience & Redemption
by
Laura Hillenbrand

This book in not another mere fantasy tale of survival, but a true story that frankly outlines a life that was challenged on every level. As you turn the pages, you feel his pain and you can't imagine how anyone could withstand such emotional and physical torment yet still maintain the will to live. The author portrays his strengths and his weaknesses in a candid uncoated manner. A beautifully written book that has stayed with me since I finished it months ago...highly recommended.
