Wounds of Honour Empire

this is one fun read. It grabbed me immediately. It was also a very satisfying historical read. I'm a big fan of greek and roman history and this book sent me to my chronicles of the roman empire and my "legionary" a manual. I loved the characters, the way the writer made this an action/adventure but completely in a historical period that I am fascinated by. This is the first of the series, you will enjoy it if you like steven saylor's sub rosa series, ruth downie's medicus series and anything by lindsey davis. kinda macho, but that doesn't get in the way of the great story with many twists and turns, have fun!

Hannibal & Me What Historys Greatest Military Strategist Can Teach Us about Success & Failure

I have been fascinated with Hannibal Barca most of my life. This book is a great look at how inspiring hannibal was, as well as others in history. The stories of success and failure are thoughtful and worth examining. the writing is wonderful and insightful and very, very readable. It is more that I expected. I highly recommend this book and suggest, if you are interested, that you look at O'Connell's book, the Ghosts of Cannae.

Beaded Crochet with Ann Benson With CDROM & DVD

The instructions are wonderful. It took me a couple of weeks of pure hard-headedness before I was happy with the result, but the persistence paid off. It is completely worth your time to get a copy of this. Ann Benson is a good instructor. She speaks clearly, the video is nicely presented. I had some problems with the cd rom wanting to play in my mac, but I just kept shoving it back in (sometimes 4 or 5 times) until it "took." I can't recommend playing it on the tv, it didn't seem to bring up the keys for the chapters. Again, I highly recommend! It is easy to replay the bits that you need to see again. Ann Benson has a nice voice and she is a fine teacher.

Hush
by
Donna Jo Napoli

Napoli has a way of speaking about horrible happenings while keeping the humanity of her characters. She portrays life knowledgeably, but keeps the reader close to the minds and hearts of people of the past. This is an incredibly powerful story about kidnap, slavery and society of the medieval times. I loved it and can recommend highly to young adult and adult readers as well. Donna Jo Napoli is one of my favorite writers. You should check out her other books, breath, beast, sirena, and my favorite, the great god pan. she is brilliant!
