Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti: A Memoir of Good Food and Bad Boyfriends
by
Giulia Melucci
Ketgirl
, May 26, 2012
"I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti: A Memoir of Good Food and Bad Boyfriends" is an entertaining page-turner about an Italian, 20-seomthing New Yorker and her twisted, romantic escapades, mixed with easy, tempting recipes. You'll feel like you're having a long phone conversation with an amusing friend who always dates losers, instead of reading a book. By the time Gina Melucci has gone through an alcoholic, a friend with benefits, a user, as well as a man old enough to be her father, you're ready for her to find the one, but will she? If the author's low self-esteem starts to drive you crazy, you can always bake some "F@#k You Cupcakes."

Patchett, Ann

Ann Patchett describes the Amazon so vividly in "State of Wonder," you'll feel like you're traipsing along beside Dr. Marina Singh as she unravels what happened to her deceased colleague in this riveting contemporary novel.
