Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. Almond Eyes Lotus Feet Indian Traditions in Beauty & Health
by

As soon I cracked the cover of this book I was drawn in. To hear about a story so far away from my own was more than enlightening. I was attracted to the idea of having daily rituals...especially being raised in a country that seems to be immune to creating such wellness and balancing rituals. This book has encouraged me to adopted my own daily rituals that help me celebrate me. Almond Eyes Lotus Feet should be a text for those of us wanting to learn how to slow down in this fast paced hectic society.

Youll Be Okay My Life With Jack Kerouac
by
Edie Kerouac Parker

I absolutely enjoyed reading You'll Be Okay. I think that Edie brought a new light to the mysterious Jack Kerouac. I absolutely enjoyed the stories of the times, the war, and New York through Edie's eyes. Such a great story. I couldn't put the book down and was actually surprised that I didn't read it when I first purchased it in San Francisco over a year ago. If you're a fan of the Beat Generation I think you may enjoy this story through Edie's eyes.

I have read and re-read Half the Sky. I don't think the stories in this book get any easier to read--they pull at my heart-strings every time I read them. These stories are forever with me and will forever encourage me to make a difference in helping others to empower themselves. I thank the authors for this eye-opening book.
