In a world where the reasons for war are justified 24/7, it is refreshing to find a book that provides the underpinnings for a pacifist response to world events. The historical perspective allows the reader to gain an understanding of the depth of nonviolent responses. The variety of essays chosen allow the the reader learn from a multitude of perspectives of the power of coming from a place of peace.

American Blackout
by
Ian Wilder
, February 18, 2008
This film ties together the Democratic Party's complicity in six-term Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney being targeted by the Republican Party in her own Democratic primary and the Democratic Party's complicity in the election irregularities in the 2000 and 2004 Presidential elections. Because of this film, the targeting of Representatives Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich in their own primary's with their party's consent is referred to as being McKinney'd. McKinney's own disgust at the Democratic Party has caused her to enroll in the Green Party and seek their nomination for President.

Of Grunge & Government: Let's Fix This Broken Democracy!
by
Novoselic, Krist
Ian Wilder
, December 30, 2006
Despite Krist Novoselic's alternative credentials as the bassist of the band ,Nirvana, his book serves as a pretty mainstream argument for electoral reform. Though the first chapter takes a whirlwind tour of Novoselic as the bassist for the 90's most influential band; it simultaneously shifts the readers focus from musical biography to punk-influenced politics. The book argues in detail for the reader to get politically involved. Novoselic uses own journey to illustrate how change can be made. He starts with his own success as a free speech activist re-negotiating Washington State's All-Ages Show regulations. This builds to his plan to bring proportional representation to Washington State's lower house.
