What a magical and creative book! I love this book, it really encourages imagination, and holding on to your beliefs even when no one else does, especially adults. The ending is fabulous!

God Help the Child
by
Toni Morrison
good book
, April 03, 2017
This book was not as good as I was anticipating. I think I always have trouble not comparing her finer work with other books she has written. This was a short book, yet not a page turner. I got the premise of the way you treat a child when it is young is crucial to their self-esteem as an adult. The relationship between mother and daughter is important. Then a romantic aspect of the story was predictable of a Toni Morrison book. And the company she worked for was unbelievable. I just didn't like this book. Doesn't mean a Toni Morrison fan would not like it.

Up from Slavery: An Autobiography
by
Booker Washington
good book

This book should be read by everyone. These students literally made bricks out of straw building their own college, so they could go to school. I have never appreciated my education in such away, it is a given for us to just go to school and not appreciate it for what it is and how lucky we are.

Geek Love

good book

I would recommend this book to the right reader - one who appreciates quirkiness and doesn't mind gasping a little. It's not nightmare inducingly horrific, but it's certainly grotesque. Many laud this book for being well written, but in some parts, I felt it was a little contrived and that the writing could be choppy. I originally gave this book 0 stars, but it kind of stuck in my mind, and I gave it a second thought on how original the concept of this book is.

Lorax

Marvelous book teaching environmental preservation. "I am the Lorax, I speak for the trees!" We have this book downloaded on our ipods too! Our kids almost have it memorized, but you definitely have to have the book for it's beautiful illustrations too. Wonderful message on what happens when you over use our natural resources.

One of my favorite children's middle reader books! When this book came out I bought numerous copies and shipped them to all my friends and relatives. I really thought people should read it, and still do.
