Enchantress of Florence
by
Salman Rushdie

, August 12, 2008
In this novel dreams can be more real than living flesh and sometimes what lives might become only a fantasy. Salman Rushdie is a master of words and a spinner of tales that never fail to entangle. Enjoy being trapped within the pages of this enchanting book.

Musicophilia Tales of Music & the Brain
by
Oliver Sacks

, July 30, 2008
Did you know that for some people the association between color and music is more than metaphor? Has your child ever said “That piece in D major is blue.”? Perhaps after a stroke one of your relatives was convinced that every musical interval has a different taste to the tongue? Learn about the condition of Synesthesia and much more about the way music can affect the brain in this fascinating look at neuroscience by author and researcher Oliver Sacks.

Lady Cottingtons Pressed Fairy Book
by

I couldn't say enough to rave about this book. Brian Froud is a master of fantasy, a genius, and one of my favorite artists. If you think sticking pins through butterflies is bad, you might not want to peek within the pages. But if you delight in the impishly wicked like I do, you'll love Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book.

Lady Cottingtons Fairy Album
by
Brian Froud

, July 03, 2008
This album was delightfully wicked, impishly delightful, a little on the gross side at times, but overall a fantastic, imaginative, original, and fascinating look at fairies. Once again, Brian Froud's artwork is superbly displayed.

Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao

Because I am not bilingual this book was difficult for me to read. Thankfully, I like a challenge. It would be awesome practice for anyone trying to learn Spanish. At times the author lost me as he switched between the perspectives of different characters, but each character was well thought out and their depth was enlightening. The format of the dialogue was strange. I felt like I had to read very carefully and take my time to get the full meaning of the text, which is an unusual change of pace for someone who is usually a speed reader.

God Of Animals

This book is not about every little girl's dream of owning her very own pony. With its brutal honesty it is more likely the book every little girl should read before being allowed to have a horse. As a girl who grew up in a small town, showing horses and competing, I loved how this book struck at the heart of what that is really like. I loved how it defined the boundaries between people who grew up working with horses and people who have them as a hobby.

Wraeththu Enchantments Of Flesh & Spirit
by
Storm Constantine
lsumner
, June 27, 2008
Storm Constantine has one of the most brilliant and creative minds of her time. I couldn’t put this book down, and I don’t know how I avoided tripping as I walked down the street still reading it. This book will enfold you in a sensual dream like state that you won’t want to wake up from. The characters are deep, well defined, and expressive. The philosophical undertones are thought provoking. The writing is phenomenal. When sexual orientation, race, religion, and all those labels we put on ourselves seem so important to us, this fantastic book gives us a whole new perspective on what could be.

Year Of Disappearances
by

This is a great book for anyone who likes an intelligent vampire novel. There is some suspense and the author keeps you guessing to the very end. However, this book isn't something that will give you nightmares. I loved the descriptive and sometimes poetic language. The characters were well thought out.
