A big book that is easy to read and enjoyable all the way. The character development and plot development are expertly and interestingly accomplished. The story also informs about another culture and very different time when an outpost can be isolated and continue without knowing its parent has ceased to exist.

I read this book when it first came out. I found the careful and forthright weighing of thoughts and issues impressive and refreshing. He is a conservative thinker with progressive views. I was then very glad Barack Obama became a candidate. I was able to recommend this book to people who initially were adamantly against him. Read the book! They did and some switched to vote for him for President. Read the book now to understand how he thinks and what he thinks about foremost.
