Innocent Man Murder & Injustice in a Small Town

Not his usual work. This is a fact based novel and it was very slow going. There is no action only reaction. The book was tedious to read but interesting.

A modern semi-classic. I'm a fan of Martin's from way back and to find that he writes in such an insightful way WOW!

Bancroft Strategy

Robert Ludlum

Slow going getting the background and set up but after that you are on a whirlwind ride that never stops! Ludlum is a master at baiting the hook and then when you least realize that he has you you are so involved that you never saw the hook being set!

Stone Cold
by
David Baldacci
mary.raglin
, October 13, 2008
What a way to spend a rainy, cold Saturday! Although this is a fast read it's not because it's short it's because you can't put the book down. The action never stops. This series is great. You learn that you can't trust the government and if you do, well you are screwed. Mr Baldacci has a way of picking you up and settting you down right in the midst of his caracters.

The Pearl
by
John Steinbeck
mary.raglin
, October 10, 2008
Chasing the dream. This story contains it all to make you laugh, cry and then sit back and think about how true this story really is. We all chase dreams and when our luck changes for the better we want more. The wife sees more clearly and is more level headed knowing that she will be there beside her husband no matter what. She is his pearl.

After living through Katrina and Rita and both aftermaths I have seen these 2 stroms through different eyes and then to add mystery on top of that . Mr Burke writes what he knows and then adds flair and drama to make a can't put it down book!

Love Hemmingway! This read shows the struggle and the victory no matter how small. It makes one humble to know what this soul went though and how it changed how others thought.

Scarlet Pimpernel
by
Baroness Orczy, Gary Hoppenstand
mary.raglin
, October 07, 2008
What can be said that sounds adult and not just WOW! Mystery, suspense, the French Revolution! This book is a very fast paced book that once you start you find yourself flipping the pages so fast. In todays world we seem to know what happens and sure enough it does but the writing style is such that the Baroness keeps you wanting to see how it comes about! To think that this book has endured 100 years of school children HAVING to read it makes me glad that it is still around so that as an adult I can truly appreciate her writing.
