I bought this book as i am allways interested to see what exactly former Presidents and Prime Ministers do when they retire. I found this a very interesting book the carter Center is involved in many areas i knew little or nothing about and as such i gained much knowledge from this read. Jiimmy and his wife have ben champions ofr the little guy and the underprivillidged for many years in many countries. I hope to one day be able to see first hand some of the work they have done as I am inspired and you will be as well

Being a fan of the genre I found this book a very good read. There was some conjecture with Mc Nabbs "Bravo 2 Zero" and the factual content of it, I have read both this book and that one and find his writting entertaining and factual from what I understand of the regiment from research and speaking with former and current members. This develops great charters and also does'nt shy from the harsh realities of what life in the regiment is all about. Well written and easy to read with some moments of irony thru the book I would give this 2 thumbs up

This is one of the books that should be made compulsory reading in the senior years of high school, we fight terror on many levels and this is the best way to ammass long term change. A truly engaing read a wonderful story please read this book and make a point of buying it as a gift for every birhtday you attend for the next 12 months and a portion of every sale will help take education to the very people most affected by terrorism

A book that is an absolute blemish on crime novels both fiction and noficton, Chopper Read was interesting untill I read this load of porridge. A greater laod of tripe could not be found on a abbattoir floor, if Chop Chop is a ficton writer he may be able to make it if he's a nonfiction writer an Epic fail mate Leave this alone or give it to some one you are not fond of

I found this book a very intersting read, maybe a little too much singing the praises of Donald however this would be expecetd as the author is close to him. It was interesting to read about the way he thinks and the reasoning behind his actions and thoughts none the less. As there is many books in the negative about this man and history will paint him in mostly a negative light its a lonely figure but worth reading noone the less.

This book could have been written last year to describe the war on terror and the whole Gitmo and Abu Grahib shakedown, written in a timeless way the book takes on what could only have been imagined as the way life would have been 40 years from the time the story was written. Interesting, thought provoking, mildy amusing and somewhat disturbing this is a book for the traveller that has time to read it as you will not want to stop. read this book and look around was he to far wrong????

Truth or fantasy it doesnt matter this book gives a clear message, sure he lied and embellished but something such as this cannot be written without at least one foot in the truth, I gave to my teenage sons to read they read and formed a view on what drugs can do and if that is all this book gives then it needs to be read really Australian schools need to revisit english curriculums so that kids read these type of books so that whilst its gritty its effectual

Jihad The Secret War In Afghanistan
by
Tom Carew
frieda river reader
, November 08, 2008
Tom takes us on an interetsing ride , most of the first section is worth the effort, telling of what makes a person into a mondern day "soldier of fortune" albeit working for the Gov of his home so not quiet a mercinary, the middle is a great read about what the UK and US were doing duriing that time however; the need to speak of a wife and daughter that never really rate a mention later is not relevant to the story, his time in the balkans was none eventful and or to heavily edited as its also a waste. A good easy read, enjoyable and belivable but missing some more detail on what, where and who. Obviously the cleanres go thu the manuscript and take out bits the powers that be don't like and this makes for a boring finish. If you are interetsed in seeing why we are having trouble now with Jihad etc read this as its the reasons we can't control whats happeneing now to an extent.

Confessions of an Economic Hit Man
by
John Perkins
frieda river reader
, November 08, 2008
John Perkins tells us what many that have worked in the developing world have belived and the chinese whispers that have been going around for years. The IMF and World Bank are purely fronts for the US forigen policy on oil and minerals this is a gripping yarn, something that will have you wide eyed and questioning all you hear from the spin doctors. If you work in the developing world or have an intrest in the oil and mining companies read this book, see whom is doing business with you or around you and judge for yourself whats really going on. This book is worth reading and when you finish it you will no doubt read the papers a little more closley and start to listen alot more so!!!

Papillon

Henri Charriere

, November 07, 2008
I first read this book in 1986 at the age of 15 I have read it every 2-3 years since a truly fantastic book describing the depths that people can reach, a story that takes the reader on a journey that has no slow corners , no long straights just swift bends that will not let you put the thing down. Read this book then put it away; in 12 months time pick it up and read from any part of the book and you are taken back the smells, sights and sounds the emotions they are all still real and close. If you read this book now I challenge you to not reread it again and again for the next 22 years

by
Michael Otterman

, November 07, 2008
Read this book if you want to be shocked and sickened by the US policies on all the bad things the word torture brings to mind from the SERE training to the Abu Grahib issues. The policies are a joke and so are those that allow them to pass and defend them. This book needs to be read it needs for people to know whats going on the soldiers shouldn't be punished they are following orders the CIA man they are wrong the FBI are better than most but the rulers of the country HELLO whats going on there

Maos Last Dancer
by
Cunxin Li

, November 07, 2008
A story of one mans life that took him from a village in China to the great cities of the world, a diffrent account than what I imagined not violent, repressive and overly horrible, rather a sad performance review of the Emporer Mao's way. The story shows what a strong spirit and a desire to win can bring and what it means for a person to change and turn their back on all they know only to reach the heights never thought possible, a story of pain, pleasure and all in between a great read and one that will hold you unitll the last page

Daddy's Little Earner: A heartbreaking true story of a brave little girl's escape from violence
by
Maria Landon
frieda river reader
, November 07, 2008
This was a book I probably could have done without reading, a sad description that at times became repatetive and mundane, that being said it was a story that probably needed to be told. The story is a disturbing look into a lifestyle that some people refuse to belive happens and the resulting read is sensed to be more of a self cleansing effort than any real attempt to "get the story out there". Read it if you will but don't expect to feel good about it afterwards
