The Aeronaut's Windlass: Cinder Spires 1 by Jim Butcher
    dlw, January 10, 2016
I devoured this book in one weekend and look forward to the next in this new series by one of my favorite authors. This new series promises to be as good as Dresden and Codex Alara, and that is high praise indeed!

    Molokai by Alan Brennert
    dlw, September 16, 2013
What an eye opener about the treatment of people with leprosy! It will make you want to know more of the facts this fictional story is based in. And it gives great treatment to the needs of those suffering from the physical and social stigma associated with disease.

    Kosher Chinese by Michael Levy
    dlw, December 29, 2012
A very entertaining and educational tale of a real life experience of a Jewish peace corps volunteer in China. The culture and food and living conditions are so well described, I felt like I could have been there too, except maybe for the dog part.

Hounded Iron Druid Chronicles 01 by Kevin Hearne
    dlw, August 04, 2012
The last of the Druids is in our modern world fighting evil when he has to and making herbal decoctions at his bookstore when he isn't. So entertaining and well written, once you read this you will have to get the rest of the books in the series.

    Help by Kathryn Stockett
    dlw, January 01, 2012
The author makes the characters in this book come to life, you worry over them, laugh with them and shed tears for the way they are treated. Nobody should be treated the way the maids were treated.

The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeannette Walls
    dlw, August 24, 2011
There were times i had to put the book down to recover from the cruelty of the authors life, and others when i could not put it down as she achieved so much with her incredible intelligence and strength of character. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger is surely evident here.

    Help by Kathryn Stockett
    dlw, January 02, 2011
An eye opener for the reality of racial prejudice. Everyone should read this book and examine their own beliefs and their ability to make changes to help others.

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
    dlw, August 17, 2010
i thought i had read enough wizarding books but this one proved me wrong. The story is well written and will leave you anxious for the next book to be released. My only disappointment is that i have to wait until March of 2011 to read it!

Blind Side Evolution of a Game Mti by Michael Lewis
    dlw, May 29, 2010
You should read this book before seeing the movie, the depth of the story is so much more than the movie can cover. What a great feel good novel, and more football psychology than I was aware of.

Summer at Tiffany by Marjorie Hart
    dlw, May 29, 2010
This is a great summer read! A true story of college girls finding summer jobs working at male dominated Tiffanys in 1945. The photo's and drawings are a real plus.
