Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. John Thompson Modern Course for the Piano, Bk 2
by
John Thompson

I've been playing piano for 35 years and teaching for 15. I started learning to play with the John Thompson Modern Course For The Piano, and of all of the courses I've seen over the years, this is still the best. Even though the course is 65 years old, the teaching content is progressive even by todays standards. I would highly recommend this entire book series to any teacher or anyone wishing to teach him/herself to play piano. Everything is explained step by step and it is virtually impossible not to learn to play with this series.

Wicca A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner
by
Scott Cunningham

This book by the late Scott Cunningham is an incredible addition to any occult library. My own copy is well worn and has been read and referred back to several times. Cunninham's writing style was both personable and informative. Reading his work is much like having a conversation with a knowledgeable friend. Whether one is looking at Wicca for the first time out of curiosity or has been involved in the Craft for a lifetime, this book has much to offer. From the fundemental roots of the belief system to outlines for effective ritual, this book has it all and does not limit itself to any particular tradition. A definite "must-have".

This is a phenomenal book. It was well researched and well written. It's a must have for anyone researching the connectedness and history of the religions philosophies of the world.
