Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. I highly recommend digging into the recommendations — we would never lead you astray — but today...

The Gourmet Toaster Oven: Simple and Sophisticated Meals for the Busy Cook

I have not had a toaster oven in years, but I bought one because our son loves to cook and often likes to make foods for himself when we are not home. The toaster oven makes the process easier for all of us. That being said, this book is a hoot. The recipes really are more than basic foods, but they are easy to read, use many items that we seem to always have in the house and obviously make smaller servings..2 or 4 servings being average. I would recommend this book for anyone living alone, or as a couple. Or for someone who loves to cook, try new things but who does not want to make large quantities. This is the perfect book for just about everyone.

Saveur Cooks Authentic American

What we have enjoyed about this book is how a food comes to mind and it's in this book. Mac and Cheese, Apple Brown Betty, Wild Rice, this list goes on and on. The side stories are great, a taste of America. When I purchased this book I honestly was not sure it would be something I would use. Boy was I ever wrong. Colorful, clear and easy to follow, juicy pictures, I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in regional foods of America!
