Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. William Gibson

, September 07, 2010
I was just informed of William Gibson to speak at Powell's City of Books on Wednesday September 8th at 7PM. As an astronomer and artist I am anxious to hear him talk about his his new book and his past related sci-fi writing. I have informed others to plan to attend. - Mark Seibold, Artist-Astronomy Educator, Portland Oregon

Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television
by
Jerry Mander
Mark Seibold
, January 24, 2009
As the endorsement on the back cover states, the reader will be surprised what they can learn from this book. Everyone should read this. What hasn't been said about Mander’s masterpiece on the technology world and commercial manipulation of our society? This is possibly my most favorite book of all time. Mander is excellent and beyond compare to other authors which attempted to write in this realm and subject. I am particularly interested in the Ingestion of Artificial Light chapter as I am an astronomer and award winning artist; a local Portland Oregonian for 54 years.
