Three Farmers On Their Way To A Dance
by
Richard Powers

This is the book that got me hooked on the writings of Richard Powers. He skillfully weaved the story of a photograph of the three farmers taken on the eve of WW I; a young man (the narrator) who sees the picture in museum years... who is compelled to learn the story of the photograph, and a young computer editor and his obsession with a young lady he sees at a holiday celebration. All of Powers' books share this lyrical quality, intertwining multiple story lines into a cohesive and compelling read. I've read them all... and the was the one that put my on this path.

First of all, I liked this book so much that I recommended it to my book club. Any book that starts off: There are storied no one knows. Hidden stories. I love those stories. And since I work in the National Archives, I find those stories for a living...Today, I' finally in the story--a bit player in a story about... And the story is about the return of a high school crush, her missing father, and a priceless artifact worth killing for. This is my first Brad Meltzer book and I hope to read more of them.
