Yahoo Income: How Anyone of Any Age, Location, And/Or Background Can Build a Highly Profitable Online Business with Yahoo
by
Blozis, Dana E. and Cohen, Sharon
Alina
, January 14, 2010
Yahoo! Income by Dana E. Blozis and Sharon L. Cohen at first reads like an advertisement for Yahoo! Merchant Solutions. The book repeats the glories of Yahoo! like an infomercial during the first few pages, which can be a turn-off and may make readers stop reading right there. I almost did, but I decided to give the book a chance. I’m glad I did. If you continue reading past the introductory area, you find that the book is much more than nice words about Yahoo!. Deeper in the book, the authors give readers handy, realistic information about building a business using Yahoo! services. The profiles of real business that use Yahoo! successfully is a thoughtful touch that makes the book even more useful. I like being able to see how business owners used Yahoo to build their own business so that I can take the tips and use them myself. There’s nothing better than tried and proven results. If you are looking to set up a web business through Yahoo! this is a good manual for getting your business off the ground.

Complete Guide to Wikis How to Set Up Use & Benefit from Wikis for Teachers Business Professionals Families & Friends
by
Chatfield, T. Brian

, January 14, 2010
I’ve realized the usefulness of wikis over the years, but, to be honest, they have stumped me. So, I’m glad I picked up The Complete Guide to Wikis. This book covers everything from the history of wikis, how to start and maintain a wiki and tips on how to use a wiki for specific groups of people like teachers and family members. I have very little coding knowledge, so I love the fact that this book teaches you wiki formatting coding, which is the biggest part that intimidated me. It is laid out in very simple terms that even I can understand. The best part of the book, though, was the part about using security on your wiki to prevent people from vandalizing entries. The fact that vandals can come in and mess up a wiki always bothered me. It’s good to know that there are ways to prevent it. After reading this book I feel like I can use a wiki successfully for wide range of purposes. I can even properly add entries to Wikipedia subjects that interest me, which is fantastic.

Beyond the Glamour Photograph How to Get Started & Be Successful as a Boudoir Glamour & Swimsuit Photographer
by
Jack Watson
Alina
, January 14, 2010
As a professional photographer, I eat up any kind of photography information, so Beyond the Glamour Photograph was a treat for me. It was chocked full of information and I loved that it comes with an instructional DVD. I kind-of expected the book to be fluff about how to take sexy photos, but it’s much more than that. It offers information on the technical side of the photography technique, which is genuinely useful to the professional photographer. For example, the book delves into the proper use of f-stops, lighting and ISO during glamour shoots. I also appreciated the section on how to find models because it gives a list of reputable websites and agencies to use in your quest for good models. The tips on how to seem more professional and not just look like a “guy with a camera” are great for building a good reputation in the glamour field. No one wants to get the rep of a wanna-be and this book has many tips for gaining a good reputation with the models and the clients. I think this would be a good book for new-comers or more experienced photographers looking to get into glamour photography.

The Savvy Business Traveler's Guide to Customs and Practices in Other Countries: The Dos & Don'ts to Impress Your Hosts and Make the Sale
by
Blacharski, Dan
Alina
, April 11, 2009
The Savvy Business Traveler’s Guide to Customs and Practices in Other Countries is a fascinating guide for any person that plans on traveling to other countries. The book has a section for each country and what the traveler should do and not do to impress the natives. One of the best parts of the book is the fact that the author, a well-traveled man, gives examples with interesting personal antidotes. Many of his stories include humorous blunders made by himself and colleagues, making the book a fun read even if you are not planning a trip. The only problem with this book is that it is intended for residents of the United States. If you are attempting to visit the U.S. and are looking for tips in this book you are out of luck. Overall, though, the book is a treasure trove of useful facts for those traveling for business or pleasure or those just looking for an interesting read.

Maeda, Martha
Alina
, April 11, 2009
The Complete Guide to Investing in Exchange Trade Funds: How to Earn High Rates of Return- Safely by Martha Maeda is a comprehensive guide for anyone looking to use Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) for investing. The book covers a wide range of topics on the subject. It first delves into the history of Exchange Traded Funds with a review of the Investment act of 1940, Black Monday, the first U.S. ETF and the creation of ETFs through defining objectives and licensing an index, authorizing participants, fund management and regulating price. As soon as Maeda has you on a firm foundation of knowledge, she then introduces how to use all of this knowledge in real-life investing, such as how to choose a brokerage, build a buy-and-hold portfolio and how to choose a wise investment strategy for present and retirement savings. The Complete Guide to Investing in Exchange Trade Funds also covers why you should include international ETFs in a portfolio as well as its advantages and disadvantages. The Top Ten Mistakes Made by Beginners is a particularly helpful part of the book because those new to Exchange Traded Funds can learn to avoid common mistakes by others. Its like having a good friend guide you through the process. No matter if you are just beginning to use EFTS, or you just need some good tips for the investing you are already doing, The Complete Guide to Investing in Exchange Trade Funds: How to Earn High Rates of Return- Safely is a must read.

The College Roommate from Hell: Skills and Strategies for Surviving College with a Problem Roommate
by
Linda Fiore
Alina
, April 11, 2009
The College Roommate from Hell by Linda Fiore is a humorous guide on how to get along with a dorm room roommate. Fiore’s writing style is light and friendly, making this informative book a breeze to read. The book covers just about any situation a college student may run into when living with others, like how to claim your space, how to solve arguments and how to move out if your roommate is too much. The book even deals with what to do if your roommate has serious problems such as what to do if your roommate is a thief, drug abuser or has a food disorder, A portion of the profits from the book goes to the Humane Society of the United States, so the book not only helps students in need, but animals in need as well. Overall, this is a definite must read for any freshman heading off to college.
