The Way of Kings: Book One of the Stormlight Archive
by
Brandon Sanderson

, January 17, 2011
Brandon sets the stage for "The Stormlight Archive" VERY well with this book. Very well written and paced you get a good feel for all of the different elements of the series. The balance between resolved and unresolved issues is perfect. Very much looking forward to the next one!

Abhorsen 02 Lirael

The second book in the Abhorsen trilogy, after Sabriel. This book brings a new character to the story and brings a whole different perspective, of sorts, to the original story line. The magic system in this series continues to be fresh and original and really just fascinating. A great story for anyone that enjoys fantasy. No matter how old or young.

Written for the young adult readers but, I think most adult fantasy readers would enjoy this book. Its the first in a trilogy. The magic system in this book is original and creative and really adds to the story. All around, a VERY fresh, creative and enjoyable read. You'll want to read all three for sure!

Green

I was drawn by the Dan Dos Santos cover. I was not disappointed. The story is every bit as good as the cover. The insights into Green (a girl), the main character, are so good that its hard to believe that it was written by a guy. A book "rich" with a great story, characters and plot. A very enjoyable read!

The Girl Who Played with Fire: Millennium 2

Hard to believe but, this book is even better than the first one. I was captivated from the first page to the last. And I'm one of those ADD people. Brillianty written and one that will appeal to many different readers. So good that I'd like to fly to Sweden just to put flowers on Stieg Larssons grave to say "thank you".

Gathering Storm Wheel of Time 12
by
Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson
davidwmack
, January 03, 2010
This is my "Puddly" pick. Not just because its a GREAT book, but because of how it came to be. It could very easily have been really bad or, not been a book at all. Brandon Sanderson and "Team Jordan" went above and beyond to bring this book to life from the notes and outlines that Jordan worked on even on his deathbed. Even though the voice is different (and it should be) the story and characters are perfectly true to Jordan. It is no less a Wheel of Time book than any of the others. All of this brings a richness and dimension to the book that I've not experienced before. Also, its a REALLY good book!!

I wish I could have read this when I was 12. (way back when) A very creative story filled with the kind of goofy humor that younger readers can really identify with. Who knew that always being late could be a super power?

Gathering Storm Wheel of Time 12

Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson

, November 18, 2009
In all fairness, I should give this book 6 stars. I'm being totally serious. The hopes and expectations for this book have been VERY high. It exceeds them all!! Brandon and "Team Jordan" have done an AMAZING job of bringing this book to life from the notes and outlines that Robert Jordan left when he passed. It is as good or better than any of the other Wheel of Time books. The voice may be a little different but the story is true to Robert Jordan. A couple of chapters in you dont even notice the difference. You will NOT be disappointed!

Artemis Fowl 2 Arctic Incident Graphic Novel

If you like Artemis Fowl and graphic novels you will really like this. A really cool adaptation of the book into graphic novel form. The younger readers will really like it. I'm not really a big fan of graphic novels myself but, I really liked this one. Also, NEVER miss a chance to meet Eoin Colfer in person.

I'm not really a graphic novel or comics person but I really loved this. Its a Mercy prequil of sorts so there is new story line and the artwork is amazing!! I think the reason I liked it so much is that the "feel" of the books and the "feel" of the graphic novel is the same. They go together perfectly. If you like Mercy you'll LOVE this!

Angels Game

I would actually consider this a 6 star book. Seriously. Carlos Ruiz Zafon is truely a master writer and storyteller. He makes the city of Barcelona, the characters and the story itself come to life in a truely wonderful way. If you havent read The Shadow of the Wind, go read it now. Then read The Angels Game. (buy them together, save yourself a return trip) If you have already read The Shadow of the Wind, why are you reading this?

Ghost Rider Travels On The Healing Road
by
Neil Peart

, July 19, 2009
This is a wonderful, VERY well written book about Neil Pearts journey through the loss of his daughter and his wife in less than a year. A literal road trip to a place of healing. You do not have to be a Rush fan or a drummer to appreciate Neils story. His story is very personal, very emotional and deeply moving. It will refresh your faith in the human spirit and encourage you to never give up even in the darkest of times. I HIGHLY recomend this book!

I went "outside the box" on this one and I am VERY glad that I did. There is a reason that this book is getting alot of attention, Its REALLY good. All of the elements of a truley great book can be found within. This is a wonderful book no matter what kind of book you usually read. Its good to go "outside the box" sometimes! I cant wait for "The Girl Who Played With Fire". (book 2 of 3)

This book is NOT about Carlos Santana. It's about his wife Deborah. This is a VERY good book about a VERY interesting woman. Its well written and gives a very unique perspective on very many things in music history. But, mostly, its about Deborah. She has been places, met and known people and seen things in her life that are well worth reading about. A GREAT read. I HIGHLY recomend this book!

This is a VERY good book about a truely amazing human being. It is very well researched and documented. It contains the complete Book of Five Rings and features some of Musashi's artwork. If you are interested in learning about this man, buy this book. Very many people consider it to be the "definitive" book about Musashi and I would agree.

Do you like Kim Harrisons "Hollows" books? Got kids that like to read? Want to give them something edgy and not childish but is appropriate to read? Give them this. Its not really even scary, just edgy. This book is not in any way hollows related but its a fun easy read even for grown-ups. I read it and got one for my grandaughter. Her mom LOVES Kims Hollows books.

You will either LOVE this book or HATE it. I LOVED it. I found it to be a bit of a different kind of stort that takes you through alot of different experiences. From the science of being severly burned to old history to the art of sculpture, and others. I think thats what I liked about it is that it made me think about, and feel and wonder about many different things that you dont normally find in one book.

Babette Cole

, May 27, 2009
On a scale of 1 to 5 I would very seriously give this book a 7. I'm being completely serious. This is simply the best kids book ever written. EVER!! I've read this book to over 100 kids and every one of them LOVED it and wanted me to read it again. Its about hair. Its weird, its irreverent, its very funny but it is not at all inappropriate for any kid. Get this book and read it to your kids. At some point you will have to "hide" it because you dont want to read The Hairy Book 4 times today.

Brandons Mistborn trilogy is what epic fantasy is all about. This is the third book. If you hate books that end badly, you will NOT be dissapointed. The story comes together very well in the end. You are left with very few questions and unresolved plot points. Mistborn is just a great fantasy epic.

Brandon Sandersons Mistborn trilogy is what epic fantasy is all about. This is the second book. Mistborn is a very well rounded story with great characters, really creative magic and many unexpected turns. The story moves along very well without any lulls or boring parts. Putting it down will be hard. Read this and you will know why Brandon was chosen to finish Robert Jordans Wheel of Time.
