A tremendously entertaining and insightful personal reflection on Russian literature, grad school and everything in between. You will laugh loudly and conspicuously if you read this book in public. You haven been warned.

Like You'd Understand, Anyway

Shepard is a master of the short story. This hilarious and engaging collection explores everything from the chernobyl explosion, to Aeschylus, to Nazis in the Himalayas. It's a true joy to read.

To read this novel is to love it. This much deserved winner of the 2009 Booker Prize will thrill lovers of historical and contemporary fiction alike. To say it's a page turner would be an understatement.
