Easily one of the best novels written about the American Revolutionary War. For a review of this book go to www.openlettersmonthly.com

Devil's Feathers

Devil's Feathers is a gathering storm of a thriller. It might be called a police procedural, since this is the second novel in the Inspector Levent series. But the writing is far superior to most detective series and the setting is unusual and unexplored--the Aegean Coast of Turkey. The story moves from killing to killings to graft and politics with growing tension, telling us all we'd like to know about modern Turkey and its people from very much an insider's view. The ending is literally a barn burner.

A fine portrait of Eastern Europe right after the fall of the Berlin Wall, especially Prague. Easy to take because it's wrapped in a haunting mystery tale.
