i simply cannot rave enough about this book. It's simply stunning. The juxtaposition of the two sisters and what they experience is deeply intimate and heart felt. This book will move you in ways you never thought possible, and give you a new sense of humanities greatest and worst attributes. This is a book everyone can read and find a connection in. A Classic!

Crooked

This really is a great read. It's thoughtful and the main character has many similarities to most teenage girls (her shyness, her fear of her nose being crooked, her reaction to the stillness of boy, ect.) This book has everything, action, romance, humor, and terror all rolled into one realistic and personal story. The author also does a great job of switching view points in the story, from the girl, to the boy she likes, to the two trouble makers. It's all very well organised and composed to produce a fantastic story!

Littlest Hitler Stories

This is an intriguing little book of short stories that are best suited for a rainy day when you need something disturbing, yet thought provoking at the same time. All of the stories that are part of this collection are full of symbolism, abstract metaphors and chilling comparisons to our modern society. Some of the stories make the reader find hope in mankind's more basic flaws, while others leave a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach. Overall, if you like things that are different, abstract and borderline disturbing, this is a great book to pick up. All of the stories in it are well written, so no worries there. It's the stories you shouldn't turn your back on.

How I Live Now
by
Meg Rosoff

This book irritated me right from the start with the choppy dialogue that made everything seem rushed and impersonal. The main character, while different than most of the antagonist in this genera of books, was nothing more than another love struck, self centered, whiny teen with problems. I think that Rosoff has potential as a writer, but this is a very disappointing piece of work that is not on par with her talent. Boring and irritating.

Solstice

I was pleasantly surprised with this book, since i had never heard of the author before and the plot seemed convoluted. This book is a great combination of descriptive writing, creative and deep characters, an original plot with a very tantalizing twist at the end, and a fast paced emotional ride. More often than not I would find myself drawn into the various intense scenes in this book because of the elaborate descriptions the author used. this is a fast paced book, and you might need to read it again to fully absorb all aspects of it's brilliance. The only letdown was that the plot was so original that it could have used even more development to make it a 5. Definitely worth the read!
