Girl in the River

The Street Roots issue for December 8, 2015, includes an interesting interview with Dr. Kullberg, the former medical director for Multnomah County Health Department, about how her daily experience with homeless women and other patients informed the story told in this novel. She also works with the Write Around Portland project with women incarcerated at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility. I look forward to reading it.

The Chronology of Water: A Memoir
by
Lidia Yuknavitch

The Chronology of Water was remarkable in its raw, honest feeling; Lidia draws you along on every screaming, shouting step of her path. As she says, it's not the stereotypical addiction/redemption story, and thank God for that!
