Deep Run Roots: Stories and Recipes from My Corner of the South

I admit that I am from North Carolina and I love watching A Chef's Life on PBS but this book is so much fun. I can't put it down. And it is big and heavy. Vivian Howard tells her story and her family story through food. I am learning and remembering about the culture and people of Eastern North Carolina. Thanks, Vivian.

Brief History Of Montmaray

I read it in one sitting and didn't want to finish but couldn't stop myself. I wanted more. It's romance, adventure, and self reliance. The characters and the island were so clearly pictured I wondered if it had been based on historical fact. I kept it to read again and again.
