Lotta Jansdotters Simple Sewing for Baby 20 Easy Projects for Newborns to Toddlers

I love this book because it ranges from very simple to more complex (although, not difficult) sewing projects. The patterns are easy to use and non-complicated. The ideas in the book range from a simple felted take-a-long book, to potato stamped t-shirts, and easy baby pants (my favorite; so practical!) - to more challenging projects like the little baby snuggler and the nursing pillow. In my opinion anyone that is even a beginning sewist could sew the projects in this book; and with such a wide range of ideas, beautiful fabics and pictures to inspire even the toughest of procrastinators will be inspired to get going and there is sure to be several projects in here that one will want (and be able!) to sew. For anyone on a budget I highly recommend this book because I think you will certainly get your dollars worth out of this one. Not to mention, some of the projects are so simple it motivates your own mind to take them a step further. Lotta speaks to savvy mothers in this book in her practicality, time the projects take and the fun, envy inspiring baby products you will produce.

Middlesex

An epic novel for the new millenia. My favorite novel of this decade. I felt this book moved my mind and spirit on a jouney through Greece, the East Coast, the West Coast and the American Suburbs. I felt the nostalgia of old traditions, the new beginnings and hope of emmigrant ancestors, the pangs of adolesence, freedom, regret, love and family. We follow the journey of a family, of a girl, of a boy - one in the same. This book takes the reader inside the life and the heart of a greek-american family, of a youth struggling with gender identity and a families success and struggle with understanding each other and the world around them. Highly, highly recommended.

Road

Simply written, and a quick read, The Road is dark, gritty, distrubing and also, thought provoking and moving. There is a myserty of the circumstances in which the world finds itself in utter darkness, but these circumstances do not matter. What matters is survival, or at least our human instinct to survive, but for what, for whom?
