The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian

I loved this book! This semi-autobiographical story will make you laugh and cry. The reader will feel the sense of loss the main character Arnold Spirit feels when he leaves the rez to attend an all white school. Despite the obstacles, Spirit perseveres and manages to find his inner strength in the process.

Southwestern Writers Collection||||Hecho en Tejas

Finally, a book about the Tejas experience through the eyes of the Mexican-Americans - a point of view that has been ignored . This book captures the Tejano culture through corridos (songs), poems, and short stories. I was so excited that I shared this book with my entire family. In fact, this book was a conversation piece with the older generation who completely related to the stories. They spoke of their experiences and were happy that our history will not be forgotten. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn the true Tex-Mex experience.
