A Trick of the Light
by
Louise Penny

Louise Penny, in this most recent Inspector Gamache mystery, once again exposes the complexity of a murder investigation among the residents of Three Pines, that small Quebec village that does not seem to exist on anyone's road map. Painter Clara Morrow's portrait of an old woman earns her a prestigious gallery show but not all who know her believe her worthy of the compliments showered on her by critics, gallery owners and art dealers. When an old friend is found murdered in her flower garden the day after the show, Clara's past becomes the storyboard that leads to the murderer but not a happy ending.
