Flash Forward
by
Robert J Sawyer
cad
, September 16, 2009
The idea of the flash forward or jump ahead in the time line of a story has been used since the 1960's. Originally published in 1999, this book takes that idea one step further in trying to come up with a plausible scientific basis for an actual flash forward event that everyone on earth experiences. Intertwining complex physics with personable characters with ethical dilemmas, Sawyer asks the question what would you do if you knew what was in your future. The TV series starts Thursday, Sept. 24th but start here to see where it all began.

Cooking Around the World All-In-One for Dummies

Our culinary arts school uses this book in their professional restaurant cooking class and let me tell you, the meals they put out are fabulous! The school has a little-known restaurant (one of the best kept secrets in our valley) where the students create the menu and then prepare the food (right in front of you as the kitchen is open to the dining room). Each week they choose a different cuisine and I've never been let down yet. Due to their preparing all this incredible food from this book, I just had to purchase my own copy!
