I have been thinking about the Puddly award and going over in my mind my favorite books. While at the time I read Cutting for Stone I may not have been completely bowled over; scenes and the story stayed with me for months, growing stronger with time. Truly a deep book, engrossing and set in a place and time I knew nothing about.

Timeless and timely. Suspense, action, heroism and Buddahism in Tibet. This story started my journey through several of the other books in the series.

The last half of this book was so beautifully written I wanted to memorize it whole pages. I walked through my days in a swirl of story memories for a week after reading. Seemingly inconsequential but so surprising. Truly exceptional.
