Studies have shown that 80% of Americans want to write a book. I think I can safely say that a good portion of those people have an idea for a children's book in mind. This book, How to Write and Publish a Sucessful Children's Book by Cynthia Reeser, is the perfect launching point for those people. Reeser's book covers the fundamentals of putting together a children's book - everything from plotting out the story to putting together characters and even illustrating. She then covers the ins and outs of both self-publishing and the traditional methods of finding and agent and publishing house. The book takes readers even one step further, into promoting the finished and published work. This is such a great book for anyone who is starting out on their writing journey or intimidated my the business end of writing. Reeser provides great advice and information, guiding readers along in an easy to understand fashion.

, February 23, 2010
This book couldn't have come along at a better time. In our economy today there are so many people looking for work, many of whom are not familiar, or maybe better said 'comfortable,' with the internet, let alone how to use the internet effectively in their search for a job. Janet Nagle's new book, How to Use the Internet to Get Your Next job, is a lifeline for the many people who need guidance in this area. In the book, Nagle starts with the basics. She begins by showing readers everything from how to set up an email address to the basics of browsing the internet and on to finding job search wesbites and how to use them. Nagle then goes into detail on how to organize an internet job search as well as using resumes, cover letters and other internet resources within the job search. This book is for anyone who feels intimidated by the prospect of finding a job online. The author breaks it down in easy to understand languages and gives wonderful guidance on not only where to look but HOW to look for a job online.

The Complete Guide to Writing Effective College Applications & Essays for Admission and Scholarships: Step-By-Step Instructions [With CDROM]
by
Kathy L. Hahn

, February 23, 2010
It hasn't been THAT long since I was young and applying for college and I certainly wish I'd had a book like this one to guide me. Kathy Hahn's book, Effective College Applications and Essays, walks young people through the stages of finding the right college, getting the application proces started and completing the ever-dreaded essay portion. In the book, Hahn stresses the fact that the "college essay can be the deciding factor in whether you get accepted to a particular college," and attributes the entire second half of the book to advising and guiding students through the essay-writing process. The author gives readers an idea of what colleges are looking for in the essay portion of their application as well as a section of "thought-starters" to help get them started writing. Hahn also includes example essays to give readers a clear idea of the principles that she's teaching throughout the book's chapters. In today's society where so many high school graduates go on to attend college, this book is one that all students should have access to. It's well written, easy to follow and will give the reader a head-start in their college application process.
