Away
by
Amy Bloom

What a captivating read. Amy Bloom is so good at character development. Her characters have flaws but also elements to their personality that makes the reader empathize with them and want to root for them. Away is full of life - an excellent drama that one could easily read in a weekend. I cannot wait until Ms. Bloom's next novel!

Hunger Games Trilogy Boxed Set
by
Suzanne Collins
Paige Dollinger
, January 02, 2012
This trilogy was such a pleasant surprise and possesses a unique plot line that keeps the reader more than interested. Young adults and Adults alike will really enjoy The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. Katniss is such a compelling protagonist and even a lot of men I know that usually shy away from books with female protagonists really enjoyed this series. The movie comes out at the end of March 2012 and that is only going to get more people interested in the books. Not since Harry Potter has there been such a phenomenal young adult fantasy series that adults are raving about.

Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet
by
David Mitchell

This book had it all. Great plot and character development, interesting historical setting, suspense, romance, you name it. I love David Mitchell and like this book even better than Cloud Atlas. I just thought Jacob was a great protagonist - he had his flaws but you couldn't help but fall in love with him. I know Freedom is getting a lot of buzz regarding best book of the year, but I think The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet is the "sleeper" book of 2010. Read it if you haven't already.
