Spirit Recovery Medicine Bag: A Transformational Guide for Living Happy, Joyous, and Free
by
Lee McCormick
New Connexion
, October 30, 2014
The integration of the backgrounds of the two authors into the book really makes Spirit Recovery Medicine Bag an interesting read. Lee McCormick, founder of The Ranch Recovery Center in Tennessee and a recovered addict, along with Mary Faulkner’s rich background in spirituality and recovery bring a certain realness to the book. McCormick openly reveals the destructive behaviors that lead to realizations regarding his addictions and subsequent decision to go into treatment. After finding himself clean, Lee fearlessly starts to explore other ways to be present in his own life. This practical guide supports readers who make the decision to create a new “story” for themselves. Those seeking this guidance don’t necessary have to come from a background of addiction to substances. It assists those with self-negating behaviors as well using teachings from traditional psychology, Native American traditions, ancient Vedic tenets, 12-step stories, quantum spirituality and folk wisdom. The authors believe that “spirituality is about discovering your truth and the creative expression of that truth -- or finding your thing and doing it.” -- Rasheno Nejad, New Connexion Journal

Judas of Nazareth: How the Greatest Teacher of First-Century Israel Was Replaced by a Literary Creation
by
Unterbrink, Daniel T.
New Connexion
, October 30, 2014
What if Jesus of the Bible is really a composite character, a blend of several anti-Roman movement leaders of the time? Retired forensic auditor Daniel T. Unterbrink approaches this question like the trained investigator he is. Using his considerable analytical skills, he challenges the historical origins of Christianity. Using data gathered from historical writings and analysis of a myriad of Jewish political-religious movements, he theorizes that Jesus never existed as one man. Instead, he is a literary composite of figures who led several anti-Roman movements. What we think we know about Jesus is from sources who never met him in person and fictional stories created by Paul of Tarsus. Judas of Nazareth is a good read for anyone who loves both history and mystery. Unterbrink examines what is the known history of the time, confirmed writings and anecdotal evidence of disagreements between Paul, Peter and James over the tenets of the “fledgling gentile religion.” This book is a statistically detailed approach to a question that may never be answered. But perhaps Unterbrink has come closer to the truth than ever before. -- Marilyn Ellis, New Connexion Journal

Rumi Soul Fury
by
Coleman Barks
New Connexion
, October 30, 2014
In the 13th century, the Sufi poet Rumi befriended a mysterious wanderer named Shams Tabriz. Perhaps the central event in Rumi’s life, this relationship fueled many creative endeavors -- including a provocative and groundbreaking series of poems reflecting on the numerous meanings of friendship and love. These poems, rich in beauty and spiritual insight, make up the first half of the stunning new collection Rumi: Soul Fury. Compiled by renowned Rumi translator Coleman Barks, these translations capture the raw power of Rumi’s words and convey his universal celebration of love in its most meaningful form. The second half of the book is composed of the sayings of Shams Tabriz, which are expressed with an ornery and fierce intensity. It is a form of expression that is honest, clear and immediate, and coined by Barks as “soul fury.” Shams heals with “bitter medicine,” while Rumi is kind and gentle in his teachings. Rumi: Soul Fury shines an insistent and brilliant light on how friendship and love can transform your life. -- Vicky Thompson, New Connexion Journal

Self Actualizing Cosmos The Akasha Revolution in Science & Human Consciousness
by
Ervin Laszlo
New Connexion
, October 30, 2014
Ervin Laszlo, a systems scientist and integral theorist who was twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, has authored more than 75 books (and published more than 400 articles and research papers). Given all that, his most recent book, The Self-Actualizing Cosmos: The Akasha Revolution in Science and Human Consciousness, is quite accessible to non-scientifically inclined readers. The book details the implications of this new paradigm in helping us understand our world, consciousness, the evolution of the universe and our significant place in the bigger picture. Creative thought leaders in philosophy, science, the media, the healing arts and practical activism further expand on how the new Akasha paradigm affects all aspects of life. The phrase “we are all one” is heard a lot today, and a revolutionary shift is underway in the scientific community in exploring human consciousness. The Self-Actualizing Cosmos reframes our understanding of our collective existence. -- Rasheno Nejad, New Connexion Journal

Vatican Heresy Bernini & the Building of the Hermetic Temple of the Sun
by
Robert Bauval, Chiara Hohenzollern, Sandro Zicari
New Connexion
, September 17, 2014
The Vatican Heresy, Robert Bauval and Chiara Hohenzollern, Bear & Company, 2014, $18 In Renaissance Italy, two powerful movements took hold. The first, the hermetic movement, was inspired by an ancient set of books written by the Egyptian sage Hermes Trismegistus. The movement expounded the return of a “true religion” based on natural magic that drew down the powers of heaven and incorporated them into statues and physical structures. The second, the heliocentric movement launched by Copernicus, was a direct challenge to the Vatican’s biblical interpretation of a geocentric world system. Declared a heresy by the Pope, those who promoted it risked the full force of the Inquisition. Exploring the meeting point of these two movements, the authors reveal how the most famous philosophers and scientists of the Renaissance called for a hermetic reformation of Christianity by building a magical city, an architectural version of the heliocentric system. The book shows that this magical city, the Temple of the Sun, was designed by Vatican architect Bernini and built directly in front of the Vatican’s Basilica of St. Peter as St. Peter’s Square. Revealing the architectural plan masterminded by the Renaissance’s greatest minds, the authors expose the ultimate heresy of all time was blessed by the Vatican itself. " Mary French, New Connexion Journal

Born to Receive Seven Powerful Steps Women Can Take Today to Reclaim Their Half of the Universe
by
Amanda Owen
New Connexion
, July 08, 2014
Born to Receive, Amanda Owen, Penguin Group, 2014, $15.95 Many women today still live in a culture that places value on what they do for other people, pleasing others and denying their own needs. Despite many forward steps toward equality, many women are still faced with a lack of balance between giving and receiving. Our culture expects women to nurture others while still looking great and taking care of multiple tasks, singlehandedly. Often this causes women to be overly dependent on the approval of others. Born to Receive offers a blueprint for women to use their feminine receptive power, which Owen says is a women’s birthright, to find a better balance between what women give to the world and what they receive, with a goal of becoming whole balanced individuals. If you are a doer, this book is for you. " Kristy Musalo, New Connexion Journal

Infinite Energy Technologies, Finley Eversole, Inner Traditions, 2013, $18.95 The global need for clean and renewable energy increases, but we’re not seeing readily available large-scale solutions. Finley Eversole believes that it’s time to look to the geniuses of our past and the visionaries of our future for answers. He believes that it is possible to have a pollution- and poverty-free future of infinite energy. Eversole enlisted a dozen like-minded people to contribute chapters about a chosen genius/visionary or energy concept. Water, antigravity, electricity, cold fusion and more topics are explored. Most people have probably heard the name Tesla, but perhaps not Keely or Schauberger. The authors allege that the ideas and equipment created by the visionaries were suppressed and even destroyed by the status quo: governments, the scientific community and businesses interests. Eversole claims many people still have vested interests in the status quo. They don’t want to have an educated and informed public knowing about energy solutions and the future potential to reduce costs of virtually everything we consume. World economics do indeed closely correlate to reliance on fossil fuels, limited “green” solutions and the question of nuclear energy. " Alice R. Berntson, New Connexion Journal

Mysteries of the Ancient Past Graham Hancock Reader
by
Glenn Kreisberg
New Connexion
, September 30, 2013
Mysteries of the Ancient Past, Glenn Kreisberg, Inner Traditions, 2012, $18 Mysteries of the Ancient Past is labeled as a Graham Hancock reader. Hancock is a British writer who specializes in unconventional theories involving ancient civilizations, stone monuments or megaliths, altered states of consciousness, ancient myths and astronomical/astrological data from the past. One of the main themes running through many of his books is the possible global connection with a "mother culture" from which he believes all ancient historical civilizations sprang. Glenn Kreisberg is the editor of this collection of 17 articles on a wide range of topics, all with themes similar to Hancock’s unusual writing. One fascinating article, “The Case for the Daemon,” speculates that one of our two brain hemispheres is actually an independent being (a higher self that watches over the lower self). Call me naive " I was totally unaware of the legal research and use of entheogens prior to the U.S. federal government outlawing the drugs. How to Think Your Way to the Life You Want
by
Bruce I III Doyle
New Connexion
, August 28, 2012
In this wonderful, well-written book, Bruce Doyle is very clear in explaining how thoughts and beliefs create your experiences. He describes how at any early age, you may have developed thoughts that led to beliefs about your self concept and your experiences. Thoughts that you accept as true become your beliefs (whether they are true or not). They collectively make up your belief system. Beliefs can be both conscious and subconscious. But you can get stuck in your particular belief system. Thoughts that you had at the age of six (and could be erroneous), can still be affecting you in your adult life. Doyle presents clear exercises on how to get what you want by maintaining a positive environment, upgrading your life through becoming aware of limiting beliefs, and changing your perspective to experience more positive outcomes and an overall happier life. Simple, easy to read and understand " highly recommended. " Annette Epifano, New Connexion Journal

How did the inhabitants of the lost continent of Atlantis live? Atlantis and the New Consciousness paints a detailed portrait of the civilization by exploring technology available in Atlantis, cultural advancements, spirituality, healing abilities, temples, the use of crystals and daily activities. Stuart Wilson and Joanna Prentis accessed this valuable information by hypnotically regressing each other and another mutual friend to their previous lives in the Atlantean era. Entertaining and very thought provoking, it was interesting how the authors made specific correlations between the events that took place in Atlantis and what we are currently experiencing in our world as we approach the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012. Praying for Strangers An Adventure of the Human Spirit
by
River Jordan
New Connexion
, August 28, 2012
Christmas was past and River Jordan, a novelist, was about to see her two sons deployed overseas, one to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. She wasn’t thinking about New Year’s resolutions, but one came to her anyway: Pray for a stranger every day. Unlike most resolutions, this one was kept, and out of the experience comes Praying for Strangers. Each day, over the course of a year, she chose to pray for one of the people " from all walks of life " whom she had happened to meet, often but not always telling that person of her intent. Then, with a sure writer’s instinct, she arranged the highlights into a nonlinear narrative. She hoped her prayers might hearten and sustain those for whom she prayed, but she didn’t expect that the impact on herself would be so great. The people she meets, and their stories, challenge her assumptions and bring unexpected insights. “It has been a humbling experience,” she writes. “Instead of discovering how much the world needs me, I’ve discovered that I was the one who needed the world.” " Fran Gardner, New Connexion Journal

Making Miracles: Create New Realities for Your Life and Our World
by
Lynn Woodland
New Connexion
, August 28, 2012
Just when you think you know a lot about the law of attraction and quantum physics, you read a book like Holding a Butterfly that really pushes your reality and current belief systems to new frontiers. Woodland invites you on a journey to make miracles happen and manifest your heart’s desires. She defines miracles as “events born in unconditional love.” She describes many mind-bending findings of quantum physicists, for example, subatomic particles have been observed to behave in the way the observer chooses. How matter shows up depends on our mind’s choice. Reality is really a matter of choice. Also there are particles that can leap from one place to another without moving through the space between in a linear point A to point B fashion. She also talks about experiments where subjects could not only influence random patterns occurring in the present but in the past. This suggests we can change the past with conscious intention. She explains: “Scientists are finding all the pieces making up our physical world are dynamic, interrelated and able to affect and be affected by one another. It’s impossible to separate ourselves from the whole to observe it without our very observation having an impact.” " Annette Epifano, New Connexion Journal

Active Dreaming

Robert Moss has been studying and exploring dreaming " another form of consciousness " for decades. He asserts that we don’t need to sleep to dream. Dreaming also encompasses the entire imaginal realm, including meditation. His method of “active dreaming” involves reentering dreams to explore possibilities and to direct the subconscious to clarify and solve problems. Dreaming is not a passive activity. Active dreamers learn that they always have choices, and can choose to not buy into self-limiting beliefs or those imposed by others. Dreaming means waking up to sources of guidance, healing and creativity " journeying beyond self-limitation to a life of freedom. Italian doctor Massimo Citro thinks outside the box of the current dominant scientific paradigm. Readers may appreciate the in-depth scientific aspect to the writing. Nobel Peace Prize nominee Ervin Laszlo provided the foreward for the book and gives his esteemed and respected recommendation. Citro draws on the research and works of many international scientists. Taken as a whole, the information presented will jolt readers into being convinced that indeed, the world is not as it appears. Gay Conversations with God Straight Talk on Fanatics Fags & the God Who Loves Us All
by
James Langteaux
New Connexion
, August 28, 2012
This is not a politically correct book, but often the raw truth isn’t easy to hear. James Alexander Langteaux is a television producer who worked for Christian broadcasting networks alongside several notable evangelists, including Pat Robertson. But while spreading the good news, Langteaux was leading a double life: he is a gay man who loves God. A Bible passage about Peter led Langteaux to a personal revelation: God breaks the rules to welcome outsiders in. In his own irreverently funny yet heartbreakingly honest way, Langteaux points out the rejection of the gay community in specific by the Christian fundamentalist establishment and in general by society. The emotional toll of being told that he is an abomination in the eyes of God almost broke Langteaux, but from his despair arose his own gospel of hope: God is madly and passionately in love with all of his kids " gay, straight or somewhere in between. Nutripuncture Essential Nutrients for the Meridians
by
Patrick Veret, Cristina Cuomo, Fabio Burigana
New Connexion
, August 28, 2012
Nutripuncture works with the body’s energy pathways or meridians like acupuncture and acupressure but without needles. This approach to healing uses minerals and trace elements, which are essential to cellular life. Researchers discovered that when minerals are combined in a specific sequence, the patterns created by these “nutris” give life to a language to which the body recognizes and responds. The effect is almost immediate. The ingested trace elements trigger, via the taste buds, an electromagnetic activity that encourages information to circulate and bring about overall well-being in the body. The electromagnetic path uses biophotons or light particles, which play a role in cell communication. Nutripuncture doesn’t fight against stress, it is a means of stimulating our vitality. This detailed and informative book is a great read for anyone interested in learning more about a new form of healing, especially those who have not tried acupuncture due to a needle phobia. " Annette Epifano, New Connexion Journal

I wanted to be more visually inclined, yet when I read the chapter on the kinesthetic psychic sensitive, it felt like Dale was sitting across from me, talking to me about me. I went on to read the chapters on auditory and visual sensitivities, finding helpful material especially in the visual chapter, which contains a wealth of healing and information gathering visualizations. I tried one of the chakra meditations at my healthcare job where the environment is saturated with human suffering. The result? It was one of my best days at work. Astrology Reading Cards, Alison Chester-Lambert, Findhorn Press, 2012, $19.95 When I read on the Astrology Reading Cards box that using this oracle deck is almost as good as having a reading from a professional astrologer, I knew I had to put them to the test. I met with astrologer Emily Trinkhaus, who consulted my astrology chart as I did a reading to see how well the cards reflected what's happening for me astrologically. The question: How can I best move forward in my work right now? Emily gasped when I pulled the Virgo card. I’m a Sagittarius, but Emily pointed out that I have Virgo in three of my houses, which explains my innate attention to detail despite being a member of the Sag party animal sign. I pulled the Moon card, and Emily found that I have the Moon in Virgo on my chart. The answer: Proceed with attention to detail, listening to my inner guidance. One of the many tools I incorporated into the creative visualizations I use was hers: "This or something better." The visualizations, meditations and exercises are as valuable today as they were in 1986. " Julia Ingram, New Connexion Journal

Navigating the Collapse of Time A Peaceful Path Through the End of Illusions
by
David Ian Cowan, Barbara Hand Clow
New Connexion
, March 01, 2012
In our three-dimensional physical world, we usually take the concept of time for granted, and perceive it as linear " time moves from the past to the present to the future. Cowan presents time as simply another dimension, as scientists and others have postulated. He says that we are in the midst of a 25-year transitional period of planetary shift as our solar system approaches a photon band in space, and that will affect our perception of time. Much has been made of the end of the Mayan calendar on Dec. 21, 2012, but in another way of calculating time, the important date was Oct. 28, 2011. That date has come and gone already for us, and some may have perceived great shifts then. So far, we and planet Earth still endure. " Alice R. Berntson, New Connexion Journal

Planetary Healing Spirit Medicine for Global Transformation
by
Nicki Scully, Mark Hallert, Joan Borysenko
New Connexion
, March 01, 2012
Planetary Healing is more than a book, it’s a commitment. Or, as the Eugene-based authors, shamanic healer Nicki Scully and visionary Mark Hallert, say, “This book is a do rather than a read.” In this case, “do” means changing our consciousness in order to heal Earth. Interspersed with a readable text recounting the authors’ experiences and the need for change, imaginative guided meditations help create medicine for healing. The visualizations transport the seeker to the inside of a volcano, a cave full of bats, a fungal fairy ring, and, eventually, the heart of the universe. They are designed to open new paths of perception, spark epiphanies and set the stage for creatively helping to heal global crises such as cultural dissonance, materialism, environmental degradation and pollution, as well as illnesses like cancer. The basis of the work is the heart breath, a centering meditation that can also be found on the accompanying CD. Intense, powerful and sustained, Planetary Healing offers an antidote to despairs over the state of Earth. Global transformation is a considerable undertaking but one the authors say is crucial to save our planet and ourselves. " Fran Gardner

Renee Baron
New Connexion
, March 01, 2012
Long-time marriage and family therapist Renee Baron uses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to educate her clients on how personality type, or preference, affects relationships. In Opposites Attract, she uses a strong sense of humor to help readers figure out the often confusing world of relationships. Baron says, “In our relationships, especially our intimate ones, we often are attracted to people who are different from us.” To help us understand those differences, we can use the MBTI to determine our own as well as our partner’s type and the traits and characteristics that go along with those types. Opposites Attract uses quizzes, comics and checklists to explain the four MBTI types, plus offers advice on how to communicate with each type and what to look for in yourself to make communication more effective. A fun read with humor that might just make you laugh at yourself and help improve your relationships. " Kristy Musalo, New Connexion Journal

Traveling at the Speed of Love
by
Sonia Choquette
New Connexion
, March 01, 2012
Sonia Choquette masterfully crafts this literary work of inspiration. The book is written about life’s journey from the perspective of traveling on an airline or “flying” through life. Choquette takes you through flying lessons designed to connect you with divine flow. She uses analogies such as traveling lightly, baggage, security, turbulence and hijackings to compare life’s journeys with airline travel. She uses her own experiences and amusing stories to illustrate and make these comparisons: “I can honestly say the only thing we take with us and the only thing we leave behind is the love we received, lived, expressed and shared. Our physical life is temporary. The love we accept, choose and share while traveling is not.” " Annette Epifano, New Connexion Journal

Primal Body Primal Mind Beyond the Paleo Diet for Total Health & a Longer Life
by
Nora T Gedgaudas
New Connexion
, March 01, 2012
If you are into health and nutrition, you’ll love this book. Author Nora T. Gedgaudas includes extensive modern scientific research studies to back up her suggestions. Primal Body, Primal Mind is very in-depth and informative, but don’t let this fool you. The facts are presented in a straight forward way that any average Joe can read and understand. The basic principle behind the book is that to enjoy a longer, healthier life, we need to go back to the caveman way of eating. Gedgaudas suggests that decreasing or eliminating sugar, starches and grains in the diet as well as enjoying moderate protein and good, healthy fats can lead to good health, and “we can enjoy a level of health and vitality one might never have believed possible.” This is one of the best health information books I have read in a long time. " Annette Epifano, New Connexion Journal

When God Steps In, Miracles Happen

When God Steps In, Miracles Happen, Neale Donald Walsch, Hampton Roads, 2011, $16.95 Neale Donald Walsch, author of the Conversations with God series, shares more of his wonderful messages in When God Steps in, Miracles Happen. He has gathered many personal stories from everyday people to help explain God’s presence in daily life. These stories tell about synchronistic events, coincidences, and what Walsch terms as everyday miracles. He brings them to our attention to show that it’s fine to share what you may find a little strange, to come out of the closet and tell your story, and to shout out your truth. Walsch states that awareness is the key " it is everything and only when you are aware of yourself, can you change the world around you. These wonderful stories are positive messages of inspiration and encouragement. Often when you are looking for a sign or wanting an answer, you only need to become aware of the stranger in the store, the street signs, the small voice within or even a song on the radio. As Walsch says, “In one manifestation or another, God will be there.” " Jelina Vance, New Connexion Journal

You may be wondering what or who is a TWIDDER? Author Anita Holmes has an office file labeled TWIDDERS, which is an acronym for what’s inside the file: time travel, time storms, time/warp/displacement and a pinch of slip. An entertaining read, the book is filled with many real life stories, examples of time warps, people disappearing and then reappearing, buildings disintegrating before your eyes, slips in time where people and places from the past could be seen and even interacted with, and other fascinating stories. If we do live in one of many multiple universes and time is just an illusion, then maybe in another reality Elvis never died and perhaps it’s possible to interact with him. We know so little about the relationship to time travel, TWIDDERS opens your eyes to other possibilities of traveling through wormholes, revisiting a moment from our documented history or even visiting another universe. " Jelina Vance, New Connexion Journal

Just as the moon cycles through waxing and waning, women also cycle through fullness and emptiness, preparing monthly to support new life. Angels of Atlantis Oracle Cards Receive Inspiration & Healing from the Angelic Kingdoms
by
Stewart Pearce, Richard Crookes
New Connexion
, February 27, 2012
This beautifully illustrated deck of 44 cards explores the 12 archangels of Atlantis. According to author Stewart Pearce, Atlantis was a civilization that existed between 250,000 and 15,000 B.C., and during this time the archangels lovingly served the people of Atlantis. There were 12 crystal skulls housed in temples that amplified the intergalactic energies, and it was through these skulls that the angels worked with the people of Atlantis teaching them about love and acceptance, and the Hall of Records (known as the Akasha). Designed to answer questions regarding your health, finances, career, and relationships, the Oracle cards offer answers based on balance, grace, inspiration, compassion, romance, ecstasy, and surrender. Each card represents an aspect of the archangels that can help you understand a situation and bring peace to your life. Has fear stopped you from doing something in your past? Has it stopped you from living your authentic life? This small book may help you navigate away from the things that hinder your success, like stress, anxiety and hopelessness, and instead point you in a new direction toward a peaceful realization to help you open to a richer, happier life. Ernest Holmes was the founder of the International Religious Science movement, and has published numerous books on metaphysics. His Science of Mind teaching is recognized today as one of the leading viewpoints in modern metaphysics — a spiritual philosophy that gives people a sense of relationship to God and their place in the universe using a positive, supportive approach to daily living. When you find freedom from fear, you can discover more ways to live your heart’s desires. Freeing yourself from fear is a journey that each of us must take. The Power of Your Subconscious Mind: Complete and Unabridged
by
Joseph Murphy
New Connexion
, January 03, 2011
This book is actually two previously published books: The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, originally published in 1963, and How to Attract Money, originally published in 1955. This new compilation expertly presents modern day knowledge and fascinating information about the power of our hidden subconscious minds. Murphy, (1898–1981) a new thought minister, believed that the subconscious mind is a darkroom where we develop the images that are to be played out in real life. The conscious mind sees an event, takes a picture of it and remembers it, while the subconscious mind works backward, seeing something before it happens (and this is why intuition is infallible). The subconscious responds to habit and regular habitual thinking. It is totally neutral in a moral sense, and is happy to adopt any habit as normal – whether good or bad. Unaware of our negative thoughts, we let them drop into our subconscious in every minute of our lives, and then are surprised when they find expression in daily experiences and relationships. When we become aware of this process and unearth the gems of knowledge that are hidden, we can become free from the patterns that we have created. A great read with many useful techniques and ideas. — Jelina Vance, New Connexion Journal

Human Design Discover the Person You Were Born to Be
by
Chetan Parkyn, Becky Robbins
New Connexion
, January 03, 2011
Welcome to the system that reveals the DNA of your true nature and allows you to fulfill your destiny. Human Design was created in 1987 by Ra Uru Hu, a Canadian formerly known as Alan Krakower. The information for this system was passed to Ra through a form of channeling in which he was directed to write it down for further use. After eight days and nights of writing, Ra had translated a new structure that was used to discern people’s intrinsic nature, personal preferences, strengths, weaknesses, decision making skills, and feelings and emotions. Human Design is a combination of the I Ching and astrology that defines five basic designs: Manifestor, Generator, Projector, Manifesting Generator, and Reflector. To understand your own sign you need to know your birth date, time and location. You then receive a chart showing a complex diagram of nine centers, 36 channels and 64 gates that describe the essence of you. An amazing system in itself, this book is a wonderful resource to help unlock the mysteries of your Human Design chart. — Jelina Vance, New Connexion Journal

Emotional Freedom Liberate Yourself from Negative Emotions & Transform Your Life
by
Judith Orloff
New Connexion
, January 03, 2011
We live in a tumultuous, fear-dominated period in history and must become masters at overcoming fear and other negative emotions so they don’t sabotage our power. With skill and compassion, Dr. Judith Orloff shows us how to become heroes in our own lives by transforming anger, loneliness, and envy and more rather than simply “reacting” when our buttons get pushed. As an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at UCLA and intuition expert, Dr. Orloff shares her wealth of personal and professional knowledge to illuminate the field of emotions. She draws on wisdom from traditional medicine but goes light years beyond it by presenting emotions as a path to spiritual, energetic and intuitive awakening. Why is this leap so important? The intellect has restricted vision about emotions, but bringing intuition into the feeling realm lets us go deeper within. The Future That Brought Her Here: Memoir of a Call to Awaken
by
Deborah DeNicola
New Connexion
, November 05, 2010
Deborah DeNicola shares her amazing journey over three continents that led to her spiritual awakening. She writes in an engaging way, interlacing poems with a moving story. In the United States, we have not experienced stories about the Black Madonnas and what some say is the true story of Mary Magdalen and her relationship with Jesus Christ and his mother, Mary. DeNicola’s vision takes her to the American West, Israel and Southern France. Along the way she weaves together references from the Bible and the Gnostic Gospels, the story of Mary Magdalen, Medieval history, the Templar Knights, the Black Madonnas, string theory and quantum physics to find the repeated linkage between divinity and humanity. DeNicola’s personal story urges us to call upon our atrophied feminine way of knowing to awaken and aid humanity’s shift into higher consciousness during the inevitable changes ahead for our civilization. — Vicki Burr, New Connexion Journal

Spiritual Anatomy of Emotion How Feelings Link the Brain the Body & the Sixth Sense
by
Michael A Jawer
New Connexion
, November 05, 2010
Boundaries — thick and thin — this continuum in people is an underlying concept in Jawer and Micozzi’s exploration of attributing “paranormal” events to one’s internal feelings and biology. Thin-boundary people don’t see a clear delineation between themselves and the exterior world. Jawer asserts that this type of person is more sensitive and susceptible to perceiving (even creating) anomalous events, and that such phenomena results from their internal states, not from anything in external consciousness. — Alice R. , September 10, 2010
You know about cocreation, you practice it, sometimes it works and other times you are left wondering, How and why did I create that? Why would I create something that I don’t want? Maybe someone else created this. Within this book, lie the answers. The angel Alariel, who speaks for a group of 12 angels, channels information through Stuart Wilson. The result is a detailed description of the mechanism behind reality creation, the influence of others’ creation on our own, limiting protocols and timelines. Cocreation is completely covered in the first three parts of the book, leaving the last four parts to cover metaphysical subjects such as planetary changes, crystal children, the advancement of consciousness and spiritual development. The result is an interesting and informative read that empowers us to create, grow and experience reality beyond what we know. There Is Life After Death: Compelling Reports from Those Who Have Glimpsed the After-Life
by
Roy Abraham Varghese
New Connexion
, September 10, 2010
This book seeks to explore the concept of life after death from a scientific and historical perspective, but clearly states that it can’t be proved scientifically or measured quantitatively. Varghese desires to go beyond what other authors and researchers have stated, from religious beliefs, anecdotes from near-death experiences, metaphysical speculation and communications from “the other side.” Varghese reviews various researchers’ works and provides pros and cons to concur with the concepts or debunk them. Renowned physician, researcher and author Dr. Raymond Moody provided both a foreword and an afterword to the book. In the end, Dr. Moody states that the book provides progress in a rational inquiry into the topic. Each reader will have to decide if the evidence is compelling. But in the end, we will all find out soon enough the answer to this eternal question. — Alice R. Berntson

Five Minute Miracle Discover The Perso
by
Tara Springett
New Connexion
, September 10, 2010
Do you have five minutes? That’s all it takes to experience a miracle. When I first read the title of this book I thought it sounded like a cheesy home shopping network ad. Boy, was I surprised! This fabulous book describes a quick and easy method that can be adapted and used by anyone, including children. Springett, a Tibetan Buddhist who had this healing process pop into her head more than 10 years ago, uses this method in her therapy practice. She reports that 100 percent of patients have found significant improvement from whatever problem they have been suffering from, including addictions, depression, anxiety, and physical and emotional pain. Reading the book will give you the simple steps to make your own miracle happen. — Annette Epifano, New Connexion

The Power of Compassion: Stories That Open the Heart, Heal the Soul, and Change the World
by
Pamela Bloom
New Connexion
, September 10, 2010
The Power of Compassion shares simple stories of compassion that remind you how your daily actions can profoundly affect others. The 40 first-person stories feature Thich Nhat Hanh, John F. Kennedy, the Dalai Lama and other luminaries. The power of a heartfelt apology is demonstrated when a woman bumps into a man on a crowded New York City sidewalk. He launches into a verbal attack, and instead of yelling back, the woman finds the courage within to say how truly sorry she is for running into him. The ranting man sputters to a stop when he is truly seen by another human being. In another story, a jazz musician, reeling from the pain of his father’s death as well as a recent divorce, learns how to live from the heart: “I realized that there was something there that I wasn’t seeing and that was the witness inside me. It felt revolutionary to realize that I am not my anger, not my depression, not my sadness — these are just mind-states that come and go. I may not be able to fully feel compassion for myself, but if I can do it for someone else, then I will just practice that.” — Vicky Thompson, New Connexion

Secret Destiny Of America
by
Manly P Hall
New Connexion
, July 14, 2010
This book is a new compilation of two previous works, The Secret Destiny of America, published in 1944, and America’s Assignment with Destiny, published in 1951. Hall presents his evidence for a mysterious plan (think Templars and Masons) for the birth of the United States. Before our Founding Fathers, though, Hall presents his evidence that other civilizations were here long before even the Native Americans. Sometimes his methods of numerology and coincidences seem a long stretch, but maybe everything is true. History is only what some writer or storyteller chooses to pass along as fact, leaving us to ponder what other information is missing. It’s those often neglected fragments of history that Hall presents. It’s fascinating to think about, and it could be right in plain sight all the time, in things we take for granted. Take the U.S. $1 bill, for instance. That mysterious eye above the pyramid on the reverse of our currency is on the cover of the book. Hall includes its symbolism in his findings. One wonders what additional evidence might have come to light in the decades — more than a half-century — since Hall wrote the original books. — Alice R. Berntson, New Connexion

Spiritual Liberation Fulfilling Your Souls Potential
by
Michael Be Beckwith
New Connexion
, July 14, 2010
Perhaps you remember Michael Bernard Beckwith from the movie, The Secret or perhaps you know him as the founder of the Agape International Spiritual Center. Now he is sharing his messages through a much anticipated book which demonstrates how to achieve a greater state of awareness. He says that most people have the tendency to operate in an unconscious state of awareness and end up making decisions based on fear, lack or limitation. Once people become aware of this unconscious program, it loses power over them. “When it starts to rear its head, they can say, ‘Oh that’s a program – that’s something I’ve inherited from the world. That’s a part of my unconscious belief system.” If you feel that you are stuck in some aspect of your life, just know that by surrendering to that stuck feeling it will help you open and gain new insights. “If you can get a feeling that you’re all right already, you begin from wholeness and move from glory to greater glory. That’s spiritual liberation.” This book is a great read for anyone on their spiritual path. It has many gems of knowledge and is written from a truly compassionate perspective. — Jelina Vance, New Connexion

Evolution Angel An Emergency Physicians Lessons with Death & the Divine
by
Todd Michael
New Connexion
, July 14, 2010
Michael, a medical doctor, wrote this book while serving as the medical director of an emergency room and level three trauma center. He believes that his attendance at more than 500 deaths gave him a closer relationship to spirit. By opening himself to unlimited possibilities and by using his imagination and meditation, he was able to develop a relationship with a spiritual messenger, referred to as the Evolution Angel, rather than the Angel of Death. Through this entity, Michael learned many aspects of life and death of the human body and evolution of the soul. He asked many questions of this light-hearted friendly being about reality, abundance, religion, Jesus and more. Michael was told that this process is available to everyone and although he was present for the deaths, this was just one way to silence his mind long enough for spirit to start communication with him. In the last few pages you learn a process to help silence your mind and become closer to spirit. — Jelina Vance, New Connexion

Sixty Seconds: One Moment Changes Everything
by
Phil Bolsta
New Connexion
, July 14, 2010
Not quite as quick as a New York minute, but 60 seconds, one minute, can be all it takes for our world to profoundly change. Forty-five well-known people from a wide variety of fields each contributed a life-altering incident or experience that led to a spiritual transformation. Collected by Phil Bolsta into a handy, quick-read format, each story is unique. The book is divided into Life-and-Death and Mysterious Moments in Glimpses into the Unknown, Heartbreaking and Sacred Moments in Living Life, and Life-Altering and Enlightenment Moments in Insightful Incidents. Epiphanies abound. You finish one story, in contemplative awe, and then the next, and the next: “Wow.” This book demonstrates that at any moment we may be awakened, directed down a different path in life and transformed. We need to be open to recognizing these moments for the transformational opportunities they present. — Alice R. Berntson, New Connexion

The Scavengers' Manifesto
by
Anneli Rufus and Kristan Lawson
New Connexion
, July 14, 2010
When people hear the term “scavenging,” they may think of dumpster diving in a dark alley. Authors Anneli Rufus and Kristan Lawson have a broader view of this thrifty pastime: Scavenging is any activity where you can legally acquire things for free or cheap, either outdoors or in a standard retail environment. These activities run all the way from thrift shopping to coupon clipping and recycling to more adventurous enterprises such as freecycling, beachcombing and urban foraging (that’s where you harvest fruit from trees that grow on or overhang public property). Everything old is new again in The Scavengers’ Manifesto, which makes you think critically about your consumer lifestyle. Clothing and furniture aren’t just objects — they’ve become a part of the life and death cycle of the earth’s landfills. You resurrect these used items when you pick them up again at garage sales, creating a second life in a new home. It makes sense spiritually and ecologically to be a savvy scavenger. — Vicky Thompson, New Connexion

Signs from Above Your Angels Messages about Your Life Purpose Relationships Health & More
by
Doreen Virtue
New Connexion
, July 14, 2010
This pocket-sized book, co-authored by Doreen Virtue and her oldest son Charles Virtue, provide signs and messages that our guardian angels are always present and available to help. Do you see rainbows, find “pennies from heaven,” hear repetitive or meaningful songs, find feathers or perhaps see repetitive number patterns? These are real signs from your angels in answer to your prayers and thoughts. This small gem of a book shares true life stories of individuals who received their messages in times of need and how those messages and signs helped them on their journey. The book shares ideas and suggestions for prayers, allowing you to receive signs for your own specific life issues. Interestingly when I was reading this book I did find many pennies from heaven in response to my own asking. We just have to remember to ask our angels for help as they will not intervene without the invitation. A must read for all Doreen Virtue fans. — Jelina Vance, New Connexion

Empowering Your Indigo Child: A Handbook for Parents of Children of Spirit
by
Wayne D. Dosick Phd and Ellen Dosick Kaufman Msw
New Connexion
, July 14, 2010
Among children born today, more than 80 percent are Indigo children. So what makes an Indigo child? They are highly intelligent, intuitive and extremely likable creative kids that don’t fit into the norm. This book is hands-on for parents and caregivers of Indigos, who are advanced spiritually and highly sensitive children. Three sections offer demonstrations to spiritually heal your child’s emotional wounds. “Gracelight” gives directions for a spiritual healing process for children up to age seven, while “The 17” is for ages seven to 17 and “The Point of Essence Process” heals adult Indigos. The techniques or special “games” include hands-on healing, scripted meditation and other simple exercises that take about two minutes to play. Plus, more than 100 black and white photographs illustrate the techniques. As a mother of two Indigo children, I felt this book shed some light on some of the issues occurring at home. I can’t wait to see the results of playing these games. — Tiffany LaRue, New Connexion
