The Book Thief

Once I started this book, I found it impossible to put down. I would recommend it to all fans of World War 2 books. I found the narrator (Death) fascinating, as well as the book thief. While it is a story of Nazi Germany, it goes beyond the horrors of war, and tells of the life and joy of a child, in the midst of the deaths surrounding her. Although it is fiction, I found it inspiring, somewhat like The Diary of Anne Frank (a fantastic book). I will reread this story over and over again. I now have a new favorite author, Markus Zusak.

Deathwatch

Deathwatch is an extremely exciting, riveting book. The main character Ben, is hired by a man named Madec as a hunting guide. Madec is hunting for big horn sheep in the Southwest. Ben doesn't like Madec, and isn't looking forward to the trip. However Madec pays well and Ben needs the money for his next year of college. Something goes wrong during the hunt and Ben ends up in a fight for survival against Madec. The author uses vivid detail and makes you feel like you're right there in the book. He also creates a lot of suspense. You can't wait to find out what happens next. I highly suggest this book. It was very enjoyable and exciting. This is one of the best books I've ever read. It has challenging vocabulary and a good plot. Deathwatch is a great book.

Deathwatch

I read Deathwatch by Robb White for my 7th grade language arts class. It did stir my imagination. Ben's survival methods are fascinating. Madec is indeed an evil character who is only out for his own good but you find yourself wanting to know more about him because he is such a powerfully manipulative character and it really makes you wonder how he came to be that way. This story is a combination of the battle between good and evil and survival of the fittest. It is the twisted irony, outstounding endeavers, and one menacing character that makes this book very well done.
