Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. The Trouble with Cowboys
by
Denise Hunter

With The Trouble with Cowboys, Denise Hunter once again delivers a heartfelt feel good story about a girl determined to avoid the handsome cowboy at all costs. On the surface, Dylan appears to be the typical cowboy she has built up in her mind from years of cowboys coming and going in her mother's life. Dylan is determined to prove Annie how wrong she is about him. This is another wonderful addition to Hunter's Big Sky series. You always feel like you know her characters personally when you read one of her books. Her books are full of heartfelt stories with characters that you can relate to. She presents positive messages in a feel good story. Luckily, I was provided with an opportunity to receive an advanced copy of The Trouble with Cowboys and don't have to wait until October. Her books are always worth the wait and as always, I can't wait until the next one!

Driftwood Lane A Nantucket Love Story
by
Denise Hunter
Jackie L
, August 24, 2010
In the final book of her Nantucket series, Denise Hunter certainly does not disappoint. Once again set in the picturesque Nantucket, this is the story of family, love, and devotion. Meredith is happily engaged and living in St. Louis when she receives a call that will change her life forever…whether she wants it to or not. Her estranged father died and has left her custody of her three half siblings that she has never met. She packs a suitcase and heads to her father’s somewhat run-down Bed and Breakfast in Nantucket. She is unaware that the ever present handyman is actually the children’s uncle. On top of all of this, what is her fiance going to think about raising three children that are not his? As always, Denise Hunter gives us a complicated relationship that through love and determination will work out for the best in the end. I loved this book as much as I loved the ones that came before it. It is very honest and positive in the relationships that are formed throughout this book. You won't be able to put it down! I had to read it all the way through once I sat down with it! It is a must read for anyone…especially those who believe in love and happy endings.
