Gonzalez & Daughter Trucking Co A Road Novel with Literary License
by
Maria Amparo Escandon

I loved this book. Maria writes with typical Mexican Humor-death and humor all in the same breath. She writes with warmth, gentleness but as a strong woman who meets lifes challenges with grace, wisdom and lots of humor. If you have not read her other book, Esperanza's Box of Saints - check it out too. She writes about her life journey, spriritual journey and Gonzalez and Daughter is reminiscent of Scherezades Tales. Check it out.

Ariels Crossing
by
Bradford Morrow

I just finished reading Ariels Crossing and highly recommend it. The story takes place in Santa Fe New Mexico and is largely centered around the little chapel there Chimayo, which was a sacred Indian ground. Ariels search for her past and how to come to terms with it is one all of us have probably experienced at some point in one way or another. It is about the strength of the human spirit, family love and love that extends beyond ones own family and the joy and heartbreak of being in love. The book takes us to the place we all must come to at some point - the crossroads where we have to make a life changing decision and go with it for better or worse. Wonderful characters, beautiful description of the areas of New Mexico and the horrors nuclear testing brings to our world.

Little Big

This is truly a magical book. When I first began reading it. I did not like or understand it and became bored. However, because it was a recommendation of one of my favorite authors, Jacqueline Carey, I felt I really needed to read on. If a book does not get my attention by the 3rd or 4th chapter, my usual pattern is to stop reading it and move on to something better - this time I went on reading. So very glad I did - Smokey Barnable and friends will take you, the reader on a very magical and mysterious-and personal- journey. The story weaves in and out of worlds upon worlds and times upon times always taking the reader on a mysterious and complex adventure. Highly recommended to all of you fantasy lovers out there that like to mix magic with reality-and decide for yourself which is which.

I am loving these books. Just finished #1, Daugher of the Blood. They are exciting to read, characters are great and what wonderful stories!! Dark fantasy - epic fantasy at its best. The books take place in hell which is ruled by, of course, Seatan who has 2 sons - Daemon and Lucivar. There are also all varieties of witches. Check out Anne's books - she is a wonderful writer, the books are fast paced and exciting, real page turners. Check them out -

I Chong Meditations from the Joint
by
Tommy Chong

Review of the I Chong by Tommy Chong (of Cheech & Chong) This is one of the most powerful books I have ever read, yet it is a very quick read. It tells a powerful and terrifying story about the corruption of our legal system and the ongoing violation of the United States Constitution. Tommy Chong tells the truth as he has seen it as one of this administration's victims of its horrific war on the 60's generation and the ongoing war on the hemp plant. It also tells the story of the horrors of our prison system, which has now become a huge money making business, at the expense of millions of human beings, many who are incarcerated on victimless crimes or manufactured charges in their ongoing obsession with the dangers of the hemp plant. The book is also a reflection on Tommy's spiritual life and how it guided and helped him through this difficult time and what he has learned from his experience. He writes with his wonderful sense of humor and with compassion and insight into one of the most controversial topics today-reminding us that the freedoms we are supposedly sending people to Iraq to die for, are being quitely stolen away from all of us each day this administration is in power. Although I made a comment earlier, this is what I sent to the published so wanted to include it here. thanks for reading.

I Chong Meditations from the Joint
by
Tommy Chong

Tommy Chong tells his very true story of how it feels to be a victim of this country's "war on drugs". It is a story heard over and over again by medical patients who have access to medical marijuana as well as others who feel this is a very benign drug. Mr. Chong spent 9 months in a federal prison for the "crime" of shipping glass pipes to customers, not even for the terrible drug itself. It is about his spiritual journey as well as the emotional impact and devastation this had on him and his family. A fascintaing read and a real eye opener on what lengths our government will go to to prove they are right regardless of the cost to taxpayers or their victims.

Jacqueline Carey has done it again. She is the best fantasy author I have read to date - loved it. Can't wait for the rest of the series-move over George R.R. Martin-Jacqueline Careys books have it all, drama, adventure, eroticism, and a fabulous story. Put it on the top of your list if you are a fantasy lover!!
