One Call Away: Answering Life's Challenges with Unshakable Faith
by
Brenda Warner

Wow!! This young lady knows how to stay strong through adversity and the trials that she faced has a young married lady and also has a single mother. I was so engrossed in this book that I actually finished it in one day!! She has a lot of tenacity, despite the things that she faced and God was with her each and every time. I admire her not only for what she went through, but that she did not loose control and let these situations get her down. Another thing that brought a smile to my face in that her kids are a part of Special Olympics and the campaign to stop using the "R" word with those who are disabled, whether it is intellectual or being born with a disability.

Memory Palace A Memoir
by
Mira Bartok

Beautifully written by the author, not only has a memior but a way of healing from the ways she was treated by her mom. I loved the small pictures throughout the book and I would love to see her drawings and painting sometime. It saddened me when her mom kept them from the things they both loved so much. Also how she would come after them and say weird things, that were either not true, uncomfortable, and embarrassed them.

Wow!! This book drew me in from the start and I was stunned by the ways these girls had to put up with their mom and her behaviors. It was a very good but, but sad too. I was happy that they were able to deal with the tragedies that overwhelmed them and how they came closer together through all this. This book was written with emotion and with heart.

A Land of Sheltered Promise
by
Jane Kirkpatrick
Andrea Brooks
, February 17, 2011
Jane Kirkpatrick is a great novelist and this book was a great one. She captures her readers not only by her storytelling, but by the way she writes. Although this book was fictionalized, she gave her readers an inside view of what it was like to live in three different eras and how those women survived ordeals and being away from family. This book had me hooked and I really enjoyed the book and will read it again. Most of all it had me wondering how these women felt being alive back then and how they dealt with their hardships. Hardships are a way of life, but they help us grow stronger and appreciate what we have compared to others who live in extreme and difficult areas in other countries. Take Haiti for example and what soem of those people are now going through as a result of the earthquake that happened in January of 2010. These women all appreciated what brought them together and how God rescued them from difficult situations and how good came out of each one. Read this book and see for yourself how God can perform miracles out of difficult situations and how they grew stonger with their loved ones besides them. I do recommend this book cause it is based on true stories(although fictionalized) and is a great one to read.

Love Finds You in Pendleton Oregon
by
Melody Carlson
Andrea Brooks
, February 12, 2011
This book was amazing. The author, Melody Carlson had me hooked from the very first page. She is a great author and writes very well. I have read other books by her, but this happens to be one of my favorites by her. I felt as if I was carried and drawn into this book as I was reading it. I loved and enjoyed all the characters in this book. I appreciated how Echo taught Sunny Wescott to ride a horse and how she enjoyed that. I appreciate the way authors are bringing the series Love Finds You in... as a series that draws you into different states and towns around the United States. I particularly enjoyed this one cause it made the reader feel like they were there enjoyed the festivities of the Pendleton Round-up. I would recommend this well written book for any reader. I also would recommend Christmas at Harringtons, also written by Melody carlson.
