Praying for Your Future Husband Preparing Your Heart for His
by

I selected this book with the hope that it would guide me as I continue my journey as a single mom and a single woman. Based on the publisher's synopsis, Praying for Your Future Husband would give me a clearer insight into what a Godly man really looks like and how I can best open my heart to him. However, only three chapters in I realized that this book is not written for grown women or women who have already gone through a marriage. This book is targeted for teenage girls and young women. In addition, I've been experiencing what some would term "a crisis of faith" though I prefer to call it a lull in the relationship. The authors assume that their audience is strong of faith and solidly in their relationship with God. As someone who is not currently in that place, this book felt preachy and somewhat out of touch with the ups and downs of grown women and their relationships with God and with men. Unfortunately, because of this, it felt more like required reading rather than something that would enhance my relationship with God or support me in developing a heart that is open to a new husband. For that reason I was unable to finish it and had to set it back on the shelf. I do plan to pick it back up one day and read it but this book seems directed at certain people with a certain mindset at a certain place in their lives...and right now I'm just not there. *Disclaimer* I received a complimentary copy of Praying for Your Future Husband from Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing Company for the preceding review.

God Loves Me More Than That

This book not only tells children of God's love for them, but it speaks to the children-at-heart as well. I read this to myself at first and then to my 1-year old daughter. She sat mesmerized as she studied the beautiful illustrations and listened to the rhythmic verses. While this is a children's book, it would also make a wonderful, appropriate gift for any adult. We all can benefit from the comforting reminder that God's love for us runs deeper, stronger, heavier, wider, farther, and higher than we can even imagine. *Disclaimer* I received a complimentary copy of God Loves Me More Than That by Dandi Daley Mackall from Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing Company for the preceding review.

Radical Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream
by

If you're a questioning, new, or part-time Christian, this book is not for you. Or maybe it is. It's going to challenge you, make you mad, tell you why everything you're doing is wrong, and make you question your faith. But it's also going to inspire you to action, remind you of God's pure purpose, give you the tools to living a more Christ-centered life, and encourage you of your ability to do more in this world. I truly believe more Christians, including leaders - ESPECIALLY leaders - need to get a copy of this book and read it cover to cover. And then read it cover to cover again. We've become "disinfected" by creating a faith that conforms to our comfortable American lives. *Radical* tells us how to become uncomfortable for the glory of God. This is a book that I will continue to struggle with, but that I will keep reading over and over. I received a complimentary copy of Radical by David Platt from Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing Company for the preceding review. However, this arrangement in no way influenced my honest opinion of the book.
