Station Eleven
by
Emily St John Mandel

This book sounds fascinating to me, because I've been an actor and worked in other behind-the-scenes capacities in theatre for years. I love how St. John Mandel seems to be playing with the concept of the "fourth wall" being real, and the actions of the stage affecting the world at large. Plus, it was just nominated for a National Book Award, so apparently other people find it fascinating, too. I really want to read this book!

The Road
by
Cormac McCarthy

Nothing knocked me out more than the spare, austere yet incredibly striking prose of Cormac McCarthy. It's as if each word in this book was distilled to its very essence and placed on the page like a jewel - the single, perfect, *only* way to express his thoughts. Ya...I really liked this book.
