All Over But The Shoutin

This memoir captured my heart from the first page, feeling the tears in my eyes. This is a glimpse into the life of Rick Bragg, New York Times reporter. He captured his poor upbringing in Alabama, although dirt poor they were wealthy in the most important things.. love for his family, his mother most of all. This memoir was beautifully written, capturing his time as a news reporter, as well as his childhood. This is a must read...just have some kleenex nearby. This is a perfect Mother's Day present.

Mrs. Bridge

This is a introspective glance into the life of Mrs. Bridge, who is a suburban housewife in Kansas. This is a period piece from the 30's and 40's. Although it's hard to relate to her very idle life, there is much to learn from her. I finished the book filling sadness for the person that Mrs. Bridge could have been and thankful for the times we are living in now.

This was a pleasant surprise. My cabin fever is over. This book awakened my senses longing for those summer days at the beach. The Beach House was charming set on Nantucket's splendor.I longed for the family and friends she so nicely developed...a sweet summer story
